I sat in the hall and listened to the teacher. We went through various court case that had actually happened, and we got to know why a certain person won over the other. My cell phone vibrated and I took it up.
//Are you free?//
I sighed and saw that it was Niall. I concealed the cell phone so that I had it front of me at my knee and quickly wrote a reply.
//Busy! Sitting in a classroom and I can't talk now//
The teacher seemed to sense that I wasn't listening. I turned off the phone entirely and put it in my bag. I knew the lesson was important and I had to listen with both ears.
At recess, I put on the cell phone again and direct it beeped all the time. Niall had sent ten messages and I was almost annoyed. I called him up and he responded right away.
"I wanted an answer!" he said, and seemed equally annoyed at me.
"Niall, I have a life. I'm in school and I can't talk to you in class."
"You can always write off what the others have noted down?"
I sighed. He didn't understand that I wanted to learn from the teacher and not from the others.
"What did you want?"
"Are you coming or what?"
"I'm at school, I can't just go away and leave everything."
As always, he didn't listen.
"I'm in the parking lot!"
I saw his car behind the trees and I hid so he wouldn't see me.
"No I can't!"
"Come on!" he sounded like a little puppy. "I want your advice today and I have to talk to you."
"No. You can call Zayn or maybe Harry?"
"But you're the best! Come on and stand up for a friend. I need you. It only takes an hour and I'll drive you back here."
I quickly looked at the clock.
"Not more than an hour?"
He seemed to realize that I was serious.
"Okay, I will!"
I jumped in the car and saw that Niall was really pleased. He looked, as always, good and he was wearing a nice shirt and black pants.
"What did you want?"
He started the car and drove us away.
"You will understand how important it is."
I sighed and watched the school disappeared behind us. He drove into town and stopped outside a clothing store. One of the more expensive ones I never went in. He made sure I walked in with him and we came to the lingerie.
"Don't say you want these?" I said cool. Niall laughed and shook his head.
"No, I met a girl and I want to buy something for her." he held up two different briefs. "Should I choose sting panties?"
I almost choke on.
"Did you call me so that I could help you with this?"
Niall nodded and smiled rather sheepishly at me.
"Yes, you are the only one who can these things. Do you think I should invest in sexy lingerie or I'll ..."
I was angry. I was really mad at him.
"Niall, you're crazy!"
He grinned and looked at me with his mischievous gaze.
"Come on. Sooner you help me, the faster I drive you back."
I realized he was right.
"What's her cup of her bra?"
He looked like a question mark.
"She has the right size breasts. Hand full and they are soft."
I swallowed to keep myself from getting angrier.
"Niall, she's big, thin, wide?"
Niall looked down at my body and raised his eyebrow.
"As you. But you have smaller breasts."
I sighed and picked up a proposal.
"This bra and pants?"
"White? I think black or red is much sexier. I want her to be sexy."
I switched and took out a red bra with matching panties. Niall lit up and nodded instantly.
"Perfect!" he gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. "You are a wonderful friend!"
I was annoyed when he started the car.
"Next time you want my help, wait until I'm free."
He nodded and promised, but I knew that he wasn't even listening to me. Instead, he didn't care about the details, but he was pleased. He drove straight back to school.
"I call on Wednesday?"
I looked bewildered.
Niall laughed and stopped the car outside the parking lot.
"We would have dinner together? Don't you remember that?"
I realized I had heard it before and I nodded quickly. I took off the seatbelt and opened the door.
"But don't call in the middle of the day!"
"Okay!" he said quickly and smiled at me. "I promise to call later in the day. Okay?"
I nodded and closed the door. I saw how he gassed away from the scene and he disappeared quickly away.
"He's crazy!" I said aloud to myself and went back to school. I knew he didn't mean anything bad, but I hated him sometimes.
Perrie just laughed as she lay folded on my couch.
I nodded and sighed.
"Sometimes I'm just so mad at him. Niall's egotistical and he lacks the ability to understand others."
She nodded and sat up again. She shone with her face and she still giggled.
I didn't even know her name.
"Any girl who he had met."
She laughed on.
"One day he will make a girl pregnant and then he may stand there with all his underwear?"
I nodded and laughed easily. I chose to change the subject.
"So how did it go with with Zayn?"
Perrie sat up and I noticed that she blushed.
"He called me."
I was thrilled.
"He's so wonderful. Tell me that you are going on a date?"
She nodded happily and I saw that she was fond of him.
"He's taking me to a restaurant on Saturday."
I hugged Perrie and was happy for her.
"Zayn's really nice and he's funny."
I was relieved when Niall didn't call me on Tuesday. Sometimes I had my freedom from him and I didn't want to spend too much time with him. I knew he still only used me and he didn't care about me. Yet I couldn't just let Niall float on. I knew he needed me and I wanted to protect him. It sounds silly with a girl who protects a guy, but no one else cared about Niall. Everyone took it for granted that he would be all right and that he would always be Niall, the guy with the big parties and as always afford everything. Sometimes I saw through him and during those times he was like a normal human being. I had no idea why he didn't let a single person get to knew him. He knew many people, but no one knew the real Niall.
