Two boys walk down a dark alleyway. They are laughing and talking about things the audience can't discern. Suddenly, a rush of cold wind cuts their dialogue and stops them in their tracks. All is silent.
(In a whispered tone)
What was that?
I...I don't know.
A black shape blurs past their vision and disappears. It was close enough for them to fill the wind of it as it passed through the now still night.
Both step back and together. It happens again, but this time, as it went by, it brushes Roberts arm.
WHAT IS THAT?
Robert jumps closer to John while clutching his arm where it touched him.
(Still quieter than Robert)
Did it touch you?
John reaches out to Roberts' arm and quickly pulls back as if it had burnt his fingertip.
Wow. Your arm is freezing.
Then in stunned horror, both look at the arm as it starts to blacken from the midpoint outward until his entire arm is engulfed in the inky blackness.
I...I can't feel my arm. I CAN'T MOVE MY FINGERS!
John watches as his friend is completely covered in black. A muffled crunch sounds as Robert falls to the ground in a crumpled heap. Robert is still alive and John locks eyes with him.
Robert... Are you...?
A gush of wind is blown behind John. His jacket lifts a bit because of it. Still locked eyes, John can see the horror that fills Roberts.
(Frantically he begins but trails off)
WHAT DID YOu do to him...?
The shape in front of him was of no man or creature ever seen. It is at least 7 feet tall. It's body has little to no solidity and is a black floating mass, except for its mouth. All that can be seen are rows and rows of fang-like super white teeth.
The monstrosity looms ever closer and John stares at its mouth in a stunned silence.
Run. John. RUN.
Robert closes his eyes for the last time. John quickly looks between the monster and Robert and instantly takes heed to his friends words.
John ran in a full sprint all the way to the police station, only looking back long enough to see the monster engulf his best friend and disappear from sight. His cries were heard by many in that last fateful night.
THE LIGHTS SLOWLY DIM INTO NOTHING, THEN FLASH BACK ON WITH A SOUND OF A DOOR CRASHING OPEN AND RUNNING FOOTSTEPS.
