5. Seconds the best
I wake up what it seems to be minutes after drifting off but in reality its been about a half hour. The door slides open and Christina stands there with a worried look on her face.
"Dauntless has been called back down to the reaping area." She says. Something happened, its obvious, but what? I through on tight black jeans the have pockets up and down the sides. And keep Tobias's sweater on. After i lace up my runners i wash away my dried tears and head out.
When we reach our destination Tobias and the blond girl stand on the stage, no sign of Kaela. She begins to talk.
"Welcome! Sorry for having to call everyone back down here! While on the train Kaela Forman jumped off leaving us with only 4 girls for the games which is unacceptable. In order to fix this problem we will select one more lady to take Kaelas place." Kaela was young, 14 maybe. I doubt she was going to be dauntless. No Dauntless would kill themselves while riding a train to their deaths. Only a coward. Stand tall and be strong, i think to myself. But how could i think that not knowing the feeling?
The young woman walks over to the glass bowl and pulls out another piece of paper. After walking to the microphone she speaks the name of the Dauntless girl tribute.
"Trinity Foster" She says with a smile.
Before i can stop myself the words pour out of my mouth. "I volunteer". My words crackle and aren't that loud. Only the couple girls around me hear. So i repeat myself, a little louder. Soon everybody's eyes are staring at me. I make my way up to the stage passing Trinity on the way. She says something to me, i cant quite understand because shes so quiet, but after seeing the little girl shes holding onto i know she thanked me. They must be her daughter. How many kids does she have? She looks about 20. I know what its like loosing your parents and now knowing i saved someones life and made her daughters like better, i know i did the right thing.
