5 factions. Dauntless, brave. Erudite, smart. Condor, honest. Amity, peace. and Abnegation, selfless. My name is Tris Prior and I am dauntless. I was once with my family. My mother, father and brother, all in Abnegation. My brother was a faction transfer. Went to Erudite. The faction that once split the dauntless up. The faction that killed many Abnegation and Dauntless and divergents. Once it was all sorted out we went back to our old routine. 5 factions. My brother went back to Erudite once Jeanine was executed. Most of its back to normal at least. My parents still decaying somewhere instead of being back at home. Will somewhere with them. And Al, and some of my other friends.
A creak roars through the room as the door glides open. Tobias is in the door frame looking more depressed than when he told me about his father. His eyes are black and sunken more into his face than normal. Swollen and red. His bottom lip is quivering as if he's about to burst into tears. Without saying a word i stand up and grab his hand pushing it out the door to inform him to show me whats happening. He brings me to the cafeteria where a bunch of Dauntless gather around a projector. The screen shows a man who is tall and old. He looks familiar, maybe a factionless Dauntless or a Dauntless Traitor. We get in front of the screen just in time for the replay of the speech. Not noticing how hard I'm squeezing Tobias's hand i refuse to let go, not only because I'm afraid of what I'm about to hear, but also because he's doing the same.
"The new government are pleased to announce a new idea to keep the rebellion from happen again." The man speaks with the confidence I don't nearly have. He takes a 30 second pause and begins talking again. "This new idea is called 'The Faction Games'. These games will not be reconsidered and anybody who disobeys the rules or protests will be executed immediately. Some government employees will be going from faction to faction in the next couple days to explain the rules and how these games work. Thank you." The screen goes blank. And so does the sounds in the room and the things i see. Everything is nothing except the thoughts running through my mind.
