When we have our meal, I decide to ignore Carter completely after the knife aiming at my heart. I can't trust him anymore.
"How was training?" Kiar asks us.
"Yes, how was training?" Repeats Stafftip. I glare at Carter and scowl at him.
"It was fine. Everyone was amazed at my technique with shooting." I smile.
"Well done Cyanna!" Claps Neddie.
"Perfect for me. I did knife throwing and aimed at Cyanna. So now I know how to slaughter her,"
"CARTER!" Yells Stafftip.
"Excuse me..." I mumble and leave the table, rushing to my room and slamming the door. I dive onto my bed and think about my family. They saw that knife throwing... I know what my mother would be telling me. Not to trust Carter.
I bury my face in the cushion and I hear a lot of shouting in the dining room. I hear the door open and in comes a Neddie Picket, with swollen eyes and makeup looking horrible.
"I'm s-sorry Cyanna...." She whispers.
"It's alright. I dodged the knives. Only this hurts," I say showing her my finger. I hear boots running down the hall into the elevator and I know it must be Carter. I get up with Neddie and we walk back to the dining room to see shattered glass on the floor.
"I told him you're supposed to be on a team." Sighs Stafftip.
"Yes... He'll be back!" I reply and the elevator doors open and Carter walks in.
"Sorry.... Sorry Cyanna..." He mumbles and cleans up.
"It's.... Ok...." I say. That's all I'm saying. Who knows what I'll say when we have the interview with Caesar Flickerman. That we're not on a team, of course. Neddie and Stafftip walk off leaving Carter and I in the dining room.
"I'm still not your ally." I mutter.
"I don't care. I've got allies from District 1, 2, and 3. Except that stupid child, Jax or whatever her name is," he hisses. I walk off leaving him to clean up and go into the bedroom, changing out of the jumpsuit I was wearing into pyjamas. I'm not going to sleep tonight. I'll be sleepless for sure. Tomorrow night is our last night here. We have the interview with Caesar and then the next day... Is the Games... I'm scared.
But now, I think I'll have a smart little ally. Who nobody else in the arena wants. Who reminds me of home... The 'weakling', Jax. I know she's strong. Of course she is. That's who I want.
