As I dressed for my first day of year 11 that morning, it seemed like a thousand thoughts were running through my head.
I had made a promise to myself (multiple times), that this year would be different.
I was no longer going to be "that girl", who wore her school socks up to her knees and the correct school shoes. I was going to be different.
As I was straightening my skirt, my phone rang.
I picked it up and looked at the caller ID. It was my best friend Sienna. I answered and put it on speaker and set it down on my desk.
"Hey Rubes!" Sienna squealed. I could just imagine her blonde pigtails bouncing up and down as she said it.
I tried to sound excited. "Hey CiCi. What's up?"
"OMG, WHY aren't you at school yet?!" She grumbled.
"Um... I'm still getting ready??" I knew it was a rhetorical question, but whatever.
Sienna sighed. "I'm coming to pick you up, kay?"
"Alright." I mumbled and hung up.
Five minutes later, I heard a car horn from outside. I grabbed my school bag and ran out of the house, only to see a cherry red Ferrari. I climbed in and smiled.
"New car?" I asked.
Sienna nodded. Her blonde hair was in a ponytail and it bobbed up and down as she talked.
I still didn't understand WHY exactly we were best friends. Sienna is one of the most popular girls in our year; she's skinny, super smart, gorgeous and her parents are mega rich (which explains the Ferrari).
Oh, and one more thing. Her brother? Niall Horan.
"Oh, have you heard the news?" She asked me.
"Um..... What news?" I asked timidly.
She sighed and stared at me. "You really should check your Facebook more often..."
"What are you talking about?!" I exclaimed.
Once again, she sighed and showed me her iPhone. "Read." She commanded me.
I scrolled through her messages and quickly read one from her parents.
'Darling, Niall and his friends were expelled from his high school; so they're coming to yours.'
"I KNEW there was a catch when they bought me this car!" She grumbled.
"How did they get suspended?" I questioned.
Sienna looked at me darkly. "I can't say." She sighed again.
I thought back to the last time I saw Niall. It had just been a week ago, when I went over to CiCi's. He had basically spent the entire time in his room, with his four mates.
When Sienna told me who his mates were, I freaked out, considering I've had a crush on his friend; Liam Payne, FOREVER.
We pulled up to school just as the bell rung. We both ran to the gym, with my school shoes not helping one bit.
We walked in just as the second bell rang. Of course, everyone was already there, and of course, they all had to stare at us.
Sienna wouldn't have cared, but she's not the one with jet black hair and ice blue eyes. I know that sounds okay, but trust me, compared to all the blonde-hair barbies, I'm different, and therefore, ugly.
I felt eyes on me as I quickly took my seat next to Sienna, who was already talking to Claire Sanders, the head cheerleader, and the sluttiest and most popular girl in year 11.
I sighed as the principal resumed his speech about returning to school and now being year elevens, our responsibilities.
I fiddled with my charm bracelet and then heard the door open again. Everyone gasped, so I looked up.
Next to me, Sienna groaned. I knew she didn't like the idea of her brother coming here, but it wasn't the best welcome.
But, I must admit, it wasn't bothering me all that much.
Because standing right next to Niall, looking slightly nervous, was Liam Payne.
