It was Coin. But how? I killed her. She was just as evil as Snow. Maybe even more so. Coin was only using us to get to the top and establish the same leadership Snow did, except she was in charge. At least Snow wasn't lying. The new government now called a 'democracy' meant power to the people, so everyone had a say in the country's future. It had existed long ago, when Panem was called 'America', and now it had been re-established.
But how is she still alive? "Yes, I know what you're thinking. You see, I never trusted you Katniss. But the people of Panem did. So, I figured that if I got you on my side, I could lead the rebellion but with you as my image. I also knew that you were smart and would eventually figure out my plan. On Snow's execution day, I prepared a serum that allows the cells in my body to regenerate faster than normal. It hurt like hell, but after you shot me and the commotion died down, I removed the arrow and my cells multiplied and amazing speeds, which closed the hole in my pierced body and fixed itself. I was weak for a while but I can get back what you have deprived me of. Even you can't stop me now." I stared at her, not quite sure what to say.
"You won't get away with anything Coin, Panem is stronger than before. And besides, you just revealed that you're still alive. You've already played your highest card."
"Well, did you really expect to live, did you? Daniel, take care of them." She then walked back into the woods, disappearing from view. A man who I assumed was Daniel started to pull out his gun. At that precise moment, his grip on my arms loosened and I kicked him in the shins. He groaned and let go of me completely. I grabbed Willow and told her to hide. She did as I asked. Peeta's guard was distracted and Peeta made a blow to the guard's nose. Blood oozed as the guard tried to recover, but Peeta was still on him.
A guard came from behind me and swung his fist at me. I grabbed his arm and pulled forward and the guard tumbled to the ground. Peeta scooped up Rye's unconscious body and we started after Willow.
I heard gunshots follow us and I kept running. "Peeta, we have to move faster," There was no response, "Peeta?" I looked over my shoulder to see Peeta crumpled on the ground, dying. And this time it wasn't a dream.
