The sound of the gun goes off and I run into the forest. I look for Katniss up in the trees but she is no where to be found. I try to calm myself. She is a better fighter than me, she will be okay. I keep searching and catch a glimpse of chocolate brown braid. "Katniss!" I yell, "I'm over here!" I rush towards the figure but it keeps trying to escape. "Don't run. It's just me." I keep chasing after her. Eventually she stops in her tracks and turns around to face me. Her rare smile crosses her lips and she comes towards me. Then blood. It bursts out of her in dark pools of red and a spear sticks through her stomach. She pales and falls to the ground. "KATNISS!!!" I rush towards her and hold her body in my arms as her lifeless form goes limp.
I wake to the sound of the cannon and gasping for air. I turn to see her beautiful figure sprawled out carefully on the bed. Everyone says that people look younger when they are sleeping, but I think she always looks this beautiful. Even though I know what I will find, I check her pulse anyways. She is fast asleep. I settle back down under the covers and wrap my arm around her, holding me close. "Another bad dream?" She asks. I nod. She always wakes up to the slightest touch.
"Will they ever go away?" My voice quakes with shock. It's been over five years since the capitol was destroyed and I still have nightmares about the games. "I don't know. I still get them too." She has a far away look as she stares at the ceiling. "We should get back to sleep." I kiss her goodnight and wrap my arm around her waist. I drift back into sleep with the feeling of her soft, warm lips on mine.
