2. Mockingjay Pin
"Get up, get up!" giggled Willow as she pounced on our bed. Her long dark hair was tangled and matted. "Alright, alright." I sat up in the bed and Peeta did as well. Rye was also jumping on the bed smiling. "It's my birthday! I want cake!" screeched Willow.
"You can have your cake if you let me get of the bed, goofball!" Peeta smiled and we slid out of the bed. He swung Rye over his shoulder and his blonde ringlets covered his grey seam eyes. We walked to the kitchen and brought out a chocolate cake with five candles in it. I lit them with matches and we set it in front of Willow at her place at the dining table. Her blue eyes lit up with joy. Peeta and I sang happy birthday as Rye clapped his hands. He was already three but due to speech problems he couldn't talk yet.
We dug in to the cake. It tasted as delicious as it looked. Of course, Peeta had spent hours on the perfect cake for her and had filled the inside with cherries, which she loved. He had even made white frosting flowers that looked amazingly realistic. Peeta brought out a small box about the size of half of a fist and handed it to her. Her smile widened and she opened the package. I already knew what was inside. It was a golden pin with a beautiful bird crafted on it. It had an arrow in it's mouth and was encircled in a ring of gold. It was a mockingjay. The very pin that Madge gave me after the reaping. It was what kept me alive in the games. It is what I have become.
