10. Chapter Ten
“What do you mean prison?!” I gape at the scraggly man. “I didn’t do anything!”
“Ah-ah...you were in a security tape off Crematoria.”
“There was no record of you either working or being imprisoned there.”
“Ugh…” I close my eyes and take a deep breath before screwing up my face. “Ew. Your ship smells like wet dog.” I open them. My captor is staring at me. “What?”
“I just took a shower.” I burst out laughing.
“That explains a lot.” He glares at me, and my laughter calms down. I lean forward and smell him. “Yup, it’s you.” I lean back as far as I can. “Gross.”
“Are you gonna get this tub moving or just sit there?” He asks the pilot whom is trying to hold in his laughter. He nods and starts the ship.
“And which way did they go?” The soldier points off into the distance. I turn to leave.
“Milord, there was a woman with them. The maid. She carried her onboard.” I stop and turn my head slightly like I’d done so many times before.
“Keep this information quiet.”
“Yes, Lord Marshal.”
