I’m standing in the throne room with Riddick when Necro soldiers burst through the doors. “Vaako is gone!” I freeze in my pacing. “His cell was opened with what seemed to be a Kelcon weapon.”
“And his mate?”
“She claims not to have seen anything.”
“--find him?” Another cuts in.
“Should we find him, milord?”
“No, he’s gone. It doesn’t matter.”
“Yes, milord.” They nod and leave.
“Sylvia told me you were talking to a Kelcon warrior.”
“Jakkob? He’s an old friend, like a brother to me.” I pause. “You can’t think he did it, can you?”
He stared at me for a moment. “If you trust him, I will too.” I sigh. “What?”
“Nothing,” I reply as I sit on the stairs, leaning back on my thin arms.
I hear him move around in his throne. I lean my head back to look at him, and laugh at what I see. He’s fidgeting like a child! “What?”
“You look funny upside down,” I answer as I sit back up.
“What makes you say that?”
“Nothing.” I hear him tapping behind me. “What?”
“Why aren’t you going back?”
My eyes narrow. “I don’t want to marry Derek. That and the people are nicer here.”
“Hm…” That’s the last thing he said. For a few moments, the only sound was our breathing, and his foot tapping.
“Um, I’m gonna go.” I stand and start to walk toward the door.
“Alright.” I close the door and walk to my room. I fall asleep as soon as I touch the bed.
When I wake up, the first thing I notice is I can’t move.
“I can see that, Vaako.” Derek? I try to open my mouth, but find there’s a cloth keeping it shut.
“Don’t say my name, boy!” Someone moves closer to me and pulls off the blindfold and gag, A bright light blinds me, and I turn away. The person grabs my chin and forces my face toward the light.
“I’m sorry, princess. Is the light too bright?” The person sneers.
“Let me go, Vaako.”
“Who are you to tell me what to do?” I ignore his question.
“Why am I here?”
“Well, with you being a princess and all, there’s plenty of people who would pay a lot for you.” There’s a pain in the back of my head, and all is dark…….
