*Carl's point of view*
I wake up the next morning right beside Izzy. I don't want to think about yesterday. I know my dad did what he had to do to save me. I understand that, but I still don't want to think about it. He reminded me so much of the zombies that I see everyday. Izzy killed 2 people yesterday. She didn't show any remorse and I'm glad she is able to do that. I'm glad she is able to keep herself alive even if it means killing people. I sigh and sit up. Everyone else is still sleeping, but I cant sleep anymore.
I get up and grab Izzy's blanket from her book bag. I pull it out and cover her up. I walk around, trying to pass the time. I pace back and forth, keeping my eyes on the ground. I run into someone and I look up shocked. Izzy is laying on the ground smiling. "Sorry," I laugh and help her up.
She brushes the dirt off of her and rolls her eyes. "Thanks Carl. I was really hoping for you to knock me over," she says sarcastically.
I roll my eyes, but then look at her seriously. "Are you alright?"
"I could ask you the same thing," she raises an eyebrow.
"I'm fine," its not necessarily a lie, but its also not the truth.
"No you're not," she disagrees. "But I have a way to cheer you up," she smiles.
She leans forward and presses her lips to mine. She pulls away a tiny bit and plants a kiss on my cheek. I smile. "Yes you do," I agree.
She giggles and pulls me into a big hug. I rest my chin on the top of her head and she lays her head on my chest. I pull away abruptly when I notice my dad is awake. She narrows her eyes, but I give her a look not to ask... yet. My dad doesn't notice that I've seen him. He pretends like he is asleep afterward. I shake my head and smile. He's so nosy.
I grab her hand and lead her back to our "bed" on the ground. We sit down and I lean my face close to her ear and whisper," I saw my dad was up. He tried to act like he was asleep so I wouldn't notice him," I explain.
She smiles and rolls her eyes then she leans in toward my ear," I don't care if your dad see's us."
"I don't either, but it still feels weird..." I don't finish.
"I know," she nods.
A few minutes later I see Mashone and Beth wake up. Then Charolette and my dad. Then lastly Daryl. They all stretch and start to open their eyes. Once everyone is wide awake Rick says," We need to go. We didn't get very far yesterday and we need to make up for it today," he instructs.
Everyone nods and collects their things. We start our walk down the railroad tracks again. I hope we are close. I don't think I can keep up all of this walking and stopping in random places. I'm ready to stay in one place again, like at the prison. I wonder if all the zombies are still there or if they have left by now. I guess I'll never find out.
* Izzy's point of view *
We walk down the tracks for awhile. I think this is the longest that we have walked and deffinetly the farthest. What if we never reach Salus? What if it is all some joke and the place doesn't exist? I shudder at the thought and walk faster. Just as the sun is starting to go down I see a huge building. Everyone else see's it to. I take off sprinting along with everyone else. I am the fastest runner out of them all and I soon make my way to the front of the group. I see people standing outside of the gate that surrounds the building. They look familiar. My eyes widen. Its some of our group! I race toward them, but I'm surprised to see that they look sad.
I notice a few people right off the back. Maggie, Glen, and Sasha. I have seen one of the other's before, but 3 of them are strangers. I look at the Salus and see people walking around inside. The people look off. They are walking slowly and stumbling along. That's when I realize why the rest of the group is sad. There is no Salus. They're zombies. We are further away from safety than we have ever been.
