Chapter Six-- Don't Always Listen To The Signs
We step into an old warehouse.
"Why did y-you take us here?" Natalie asks.
"You guys said you were up for some fun," I pull a pocket knife out of my pocket, "This is where the fun begins."
We start walking and I can basically hear the girls shaking in their boots.
"I told you we should've gone to Chuck E Cheese..." I hear Natalie whisper to Alex.
"N-No this, this is fine... Th-This'll be fun." Alex whispers.
"Damn right it will." I say.
We get to a door in the warehouse. I hand the knife to Natalie.
"Why are you giving me-"
"Cut the rope." I say.
She looks over and there's a rope with clear red pain above it that says 'DO NOT CUT'.
"Bu-But it says not to." Alex says.
"Are you guys gonna be a couple of pussies?" I ask.
They stare at if for a good minute.
"Guess you guys don't want fun." I say.
I start to walk away when Alex grabs my arm.
"I'll cut the rope." Alex says.
She grabs the pocket knife and walks over to the rope.
I lean against the wall.
She puts the blade to the rope.
"Are you sure this won't kill me?" She says.
"How many times have I told you to do something that would kill you?" I ask.
She doesn't answer she just looks to the ground.
"Not very often." Natalie whispers.
"I know that." Alex snaps at her.
"Well you didn't answer so I wasn't sure!" Natalie says.
I try not to laugh but I chuckle a bit and they both shoot a nasty look at me.
Alex tightly closes her eyes and holds the blade to the rope then....
She cut it.
We heard a loud deafening beep causing us to shoot our hands to our ears and cover them.
A door opens and a man stands at the door way.
"Well look who it is. Aaron Michael McLaughlin!" The man yells.
"This place looks as creepy as ever." I say.
He leads us inside and hands me a drink. The music was loud, and the place was packed. It's a club. A secret one, the best one in all of Florida.
He peers over my shoulder and sees Natalie and Alex.
"Nice looking lady you got there." He says.
"Wait lady?" Natalie says putting a hand on her hip realizing it was a single noun not plural.
"Yeah the nice one next to you." He replies.
I take a spit take laughing.
She gives me a dirty looks.
"Okay, I'll talk to you in a bit man." I say.
He walks off.
A guy walks over.
"Well hey girls." I heard a guy say.
I rolled my eyes...
I knew exactly who this person was...
Carter was an interesting character. One of the most interesting things about Carter... He hasn't left this club since he walked in two years ago...
Carter's personality is what... I don't know how to put this... Fruity.
He runs over to me and puts his arm around me.
"Hello Aaron," He starts. He turns my body towards his own, "You look, sexy," he leaned in, "As usual." He whispers in my ear.
He leans back.
"God you're gayer than a very special episode of Glee." I mumble.
"And you're straighter than Neil Patrick Harris."
"He's not straight..." I say.
I hear the girls laughing behind me.
I turn to Alex. She's just laughing her ass off.
I look back at Carter.
"Carter... I'm straight." I say.
He winks at me, "Sure you are."
"No I am." I say.
"No straight man wears those kind of glasses!" He says.
"They're just normal glasses." I mumble.
"They're a bit large." He says.
"No they're, normal." I say.
"Wait, are you straight?" He asks.
"That's what I've been trying to tell you." I say.
"Well... When you finally decide to come out, call me." He says winking.
Disgust fills me.
He walks away
Alex walks over to me laughing half to death.
"What's so funny? He's just fruitier than fruity pebbles. It's not that funny." I say.
Alex then kisses my cheek.
I lean over to the bar and the bar tender places a drink in my hand, wine to be exact. I hand it to her.
She chuckles and sips it.
Natalie stands behind me and leans over the bar, the bar tender places a drink in her hand, vodka to be exact.
She takes a sip then two seconds later... She does a spit take... All over Alex.
I cover up my mouth in both shock... And to slightly try not laugh.
"Maybe we should leave." I say.
We walked out of the club.
Soon all the loud music stops. The smell of alcohol fades. The laughter ends.
Alex hugs me.
"We don't have to go on that date." She says.
"Okay..." I mumble.
Natalie fixes her glasses and Alex fixes her hair. Then, we leave.
