2. Brianna: The Quiet One

Chapter Two-- Brianna: The Quiet One

I smoke a weed as I walk to school.

I don't want to go. I'm done with school, I'm done with everything.

In Language Arts it's clear I'm not paying any attention to what's going on. (A/N If you didn't know another word for a cigarette is a weed. I'm not talking about the drug.)

"Brianna and Aaron." I hear.

My head shoots up and a chill runs down my spine.

Why was he saying my name? Why was it with that low-life's name?

Brianna doesn't talk and I question if she's mute. All I know is that she wears matted old clothes and it looks like she doesn't own a hairbrush (it wouldn't be much of a shock if she didn't).

She rolls her deep gray eyes and looks at me in disgust.

The sound of the sharp bell rings and I stand.

As I'm walking out she grabs my arm and hands me a note.

"This your form of talking?" I ask.

She nods slightly.

"Great." The word slips out of my mouth sarcastically and she looks to be a bit annoyed, but I know I am more.

I open it.

'I noticed you weren't paying attention (not much of a shocker) but we have to write a song together. I know how you feel about music but you better get over it because I'm not failing.'

"To be honest Brianna," I grabbed her only pen (because I didn't want a response) and snapped it, "Nobody cares what you want. You want a good grade, you can do the project I'm not writing a dumb song. Music is shit. We all know how I feel about music." And I walked out. Without a second thought.

That night I went to a party. There was this one girl there that was beyond words sexy.

She was a little tipsy after a few drinks, and I pulled her into the bedroom.

I had my hands up her shirt when I heard someone clear their throat.

I pull my hands out and look up to see Natalie standing there.

I roll my eyes.

I stand up.

"You little pervert." She whispers into my ear as I walk out.

"I'm not the one watching." I reply.

I sit on the couch with a weed in my hand.

Natalie takes it.

"Really? Cigarettes?" She asks.

I take it back.

"I'm 18," I light the cigarette and I take in a puff, "It's perfectly legal."

She pulls it out of my mouth and drops it into my beer.

"It's also unhealthy." She says.

A girl walks by and grabs my beer then throws it into a guy's face.

I stand up and as I start to walk out the door the girl that I had managed to pull into the bedroom grabbed my arm.

"Aaron you're leaving already?" She asks.

"Who are you again?" I ask.

I start to walk out again but she towards her again.

"Playing hard to get?" She asks.

I roll my eyes.

I'm out of weeds I just want to go buy more then go home.

"Well, my name is Alex." She whispers into my ear.

"Look, Alex you're a nice looking chick,"

"I really just want to go home." I walk out the door.

I get some more cigarettes and I go home.

I lay down on the counter and I smoke one of my weeds.

I kick my Toms off and I put out my weed in the ash tray.

I get a text from Brianna.

'Aaron, I know what you're going to do is insult me. But the fact is... I was called an ugly whore today. But I was also told I'm a beautiful perfect human. I was told that I'm stupid. Yet I was told I'm wise... What to believe is up to me. I don't care why you'll tell me because that doesn't matter to me. I know the truth I know who I am and I will forever stick to that.'

I could text her back something rude, but I choose against it.

Instead I'ma hit the hay.

I lay on my couch and soon I'm asleep.
