I don't care what my parents say about Nathan, that isn't going to stop me from hanging out with him. They don't need to know. I went in school today and Nathan wasn't in. I didn't want to face everybody alone but I guess I have to. And it's not like I can visit him after school cause I have my detention with sir and my mum and dad are picking me up now everyday after school. So trustworthy... I hate my parents, as if I haven't said it enough already.
So after a boring day at school of teasing and discipline I went to my detention. Sir was waiting for me.
"Zoe," he greeted me. I sat down at one of the desks and got out some homework to do.
"Zoe I want you to tell me why you hit Olivia," he then said. I shrugged. "I know she has something to do with it and I want you to tell me now rather than when we're in the office with Olivia blabbing on saying how innocent she is," I laughed.
"She was annoying me," I replied.
"About what?" Sir asked. I was about to shrug again but sir looked at me seriously.
"She was just bad-mouthing about someone," I said, discretely.
"The other day I had you two in my office due to a very similar situation, you injuring Olivia's ankle," he sounded like a detective. "But you told me you only did it because she was hurting another student? Is that correct and could that link to yesterday's case?"
"Maybe," I answered, looking down as I didn't want to make any eye contact.
"Zoe, you need to start answering properly, this is a serious case! I need to get to the bottom of this and I won't unless you help me,"
"I just don't want to be saying anything for anybody else, the best person you can get information from is Nathan sir, he's the victim in... Well everything. People having been picking on him all the time, and sadly I witnessed some of the worst things I could ever imagine anybody do to him. He is so innocent, Olivia is just one of many people who do things to him. He is very shy though, so I doubt you'll be able to get information off him without me, I think I might be able to get him talking if you let me. Nathan's one of my good friends, maybe the only real friend I've had and I don't want to see him get hurt anymore. So can you blame me for doing vial things that I never thought myself doing when I even hear people just call him names? I know violence isn't the best answer but it's just like a reflex, I don't think when I'm doing it." I went on. Sir looked at me sympathetically.
"Okay you may leave," he told me, jotting things down in a notepad.
"Are you serious?" I asked, smiling my face off!
"I've heard enough and thanks to your little 'speech' and I think the situation has been put to rest,"
"What do you mean?"
"I'll be having a private word with Olivia to hear her side to some questions I have and then I think we're done depending on what she says,"
"So no more detentions?!" I exclaimed.
"Don't push your luck, Zoe," he eyed me.
"Okay, thank you sir," I said, walking out if the classroom. "Oh and one last thing, can you tell my parents that I'm 'innocent'?" I asked. Sir nodded.
"But don't brag about it until I speak to Olivia?" He quickly added before I left. I rolled my eyes nodding and then ran out.
