I was in the nurses room at school. Nathan was still knocked out. He lay still on the nurses table. I hated seeing him like this. What did he ever do wrong? I was so mad...
Finally he began opening his eyes, although you could tell he was struggling because of the cut on his eyebrow. He looked instantly in my direction and smiled. He then tilted his head towards the nurse who sat on a stool beside him.
"How are you feeling?" She asked him, her voice soothing.
"I'm fine," Nathan coughed.
"On a scale of 1-10 how much pain are you feeling?" She then asked.
"4 maybe 5?" He told her, nearly being able to talk. I knew he was lying and so did the nurse. He didn't look like he was lying but nobody this beaten up could feel only a 5. He then looked at me again. "Hello," he said in a cheery way. Why is he so happy?
"I'll be right back," the nurse said, leaving us in the room.
"What happened to Cliff?" He asked me, trying to open his eyes more.
"Well his mums in the building, they're in the office now with sir.. I think he might get expelled or at least excluded," I replied, putting my hand on his head. His temperature was high. "What happened?"
"He told me," Nathan said but paused for a second to cough. "That you were using me and lied to me and stuff like that, I told him to shut up and he took it the wrong way,"
"Obviously," I rolled my eyes. "I've known him since primary, he always used to have little tantrums, small things push him over the line.."
"I don't think that was it... I just think he was looking for an excuse to hurt me,"
"Don't feel sorry for yourself, I'm sure there's more to it," I told him.
"I think he fancies you," Nathan smirked. I laughed and bent down to kiss his forehead. The nurse came back.
"Nathan, whilst you were sleeping I took a couple a tests, only minor ones don't worry, but you seemed to of already of had a couple of bruises and saws before am I right?" She questioned him. Nathan nodded look guilty.
"He got beaten up the other day by some thugs," I said, I knew it wasn't my place to say it but it looked like Nathan was gonna keep quiet and she needed to know.
"Shh," he told me.
"From what Cliffs said he only attacked your face yet you seem to have bruised ribs as well as severe marks on your arms too?" The nurse notified. Nathan shrugged. "Okay, well you get some rest, we'll be contacting your mum and hopefully she should be picking you up,"
"She's busy!" Nathan replied quickly. "She's out today..."
"Well I'm sure whatever it is that she's doing she'll postpone it for this kind of situation, no?"
"You could try calling her but she's really busy and I don't want to disturb her, I'm fine! As you said he only went for the face, I have my balance I can walk home,"
"No you can't!" I interrupted. "Phone my parents if his mother doesn't come," I said.
"But your mum and dad don't like me-"
"Yeah but still! They'll do it for me," I answered, Nathan nodded and sank into the pillow on the nurses table.
School hadn't finished yet but me and Nathan were excused for the rest of the day. We walked outside. Nathan had his hood up to cover his broken face. I saw dads car pulled up outside, we staggered across to it. I noticed him shaking his head at me. At least he wasn't with mum, she would of been worse.
