I love Nathan's place. I'd rather stay around here then go home, especially when facing my mum and dad. We went inside. He placed his keys on the side table next to the door.
"So..." I said, still looking around as though it was the first time I was here. Nathan went into his bedroom so I followed him. He was looking through his records and I stared at him doing that. He took one out and placed it gently on the player, placing the pick on the vinyl. It took a second to start but soon an acoustic guitar began strumming.
"Whats playing?" I asked, curiously picking up the cover.
"Guns 'n' roses, patience," he answered, taking off his school bag and placing it in the corner. I sat down on his bed. "I normally just chill out sometimes to records..." He told me.
"Don't blame you," I replied. "They're pretty awesome."
"What do you want to do?" He asked me, looking hopeless. I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't mind... This is a decent song," I lay back and looked up at the ceiling. I felt so relaxed. Nathan sat on the tip of his bed.
"Why are you so quiet at school? You're so nice and to be honest you're quite cool too, I just wish more people could see this and would want to be more like you than the schools best football player or the badass of the class," I tried wording, Nathan didn't say anything. He seemed blank.
"I don't know..." He finally answered. "I guess I'm shy."
"Don't be shy, do you have any other mates?" I wondered so I could ask how he met them ect.
"No." I looked at him in shock.
"At all? What about when you're on holiday or summit?"
"Never been on holiday." Nathan winced. I didn't believe it. I felt bad for him, I went over to hug him but he stumbled backwards trying to get away from me.
"Nathan what's going on? Is it because of Olivia?" He shook his head.
"I'm sorry," Nathan whispered. He then went back to me and let me hug him. We then slow danced a little to the music, swaying from side to side. I was Nathan's first friend, that explains a lot.
This was weird. I never slow danced in my life. Zoe didn't take it well when I told her I never had a mate before. I wasn't really that bothered though, at least it was out in the open now. This music was depressing me. The slowness of it. I went back to the record player and changed it for something a little bit more lively. Memories -Leonard Cohen, this was good. Zoe smiled at me. I went back to her.
"I like this one," I confessed. I started singing along a little, but not too loud because I didn't really want Zoe hearing me. "So won't you let me see, I said won't you let me see, won't you let me seeeeeeeeee...." I muttered in time with the music.
"You're cute," she said to me. I blushed a little bit. This was nice. I wanted to dance forever, never stopping.
