Drip, drip, blood drops

Drip, drip, blood drops! I thought vampires belonged to the imagination. I thought the movies just wanted us to be afraid. I thought Dracula was a former idiot. I thought as much, until I met Louis Tomlinson. He wasn't the person he pretended to be and he wasn't human

20. My new life?

I woke up in the morning by Nialls lips. I lay on my stomach and he kissed me on the back. I felt total harmony and I opened my eyes.
"Niall, maybe ..."
He interrupted me and lay on top of my back.
"Honey, stop to ponder. If you leave me, I will look you up again."
I blushed.
He kissed my neck and took his arms around my body.
"I read you like an open book." whispered Niall and I realized that he really knew everything about me.
"A book?"
Naill nodded and he laughed a little bit.
"You thought about leaving me yesterday?"
I blushed even more and realized that he could read my thoughts.
"I'm scared!"
He kissed my neck.
"You need not to be afraid, not for me."
I hesitated.
"But if Louis ...?"
Niall just continued to kiss me and I felt his soft lips against my skin.
"Stop worrying about him. Now it's we, you and I, and no one can hurt us."

We walked along the street and Niall was holding my hand. I saw how people lived their regular lives and how they worked to get through each day.
"Why do you have so much money?"
Niall was startled and smiled at me.
"The truth or do you want ..."
I interrupted him.
"The truth."
Niall stopped and looked at me.
"The first vampires collected money from victims. They amassed a fortune and it's that money that I'm got today."
"If the money runs out?"
Niall laughed a little bit.
"Well, then I start working again, but so far have all vampires a fortune with them."
I frowned.
"So you live on money from murder?"
He nodded.
"I know it's double standards. I don't want to kill but still I'm living on blood money?"
I nodded, but I knew it wasn't Nialls fault that the money came from the murder.
"So how much money do you have?"
He looked at me and he became serious.
"Let's just say enough is enough?"
I nodded and understood that it was a sensitive subject. He didn't like to talk about money and he didn't seem like I was snooping.

When we got back to the hotel, I felt just down again. I took a shower and changed clothes. When I came out to Niall, he sat on the couch and watched me closely.
"I'm sorry I don't like to talk about certain things."
I hesitated and stopped in the middle of the floor.
"There's much that you don't want to talk about?"
He nodded.
"I can admit that all vampires have killed. I did it and I still remember how I took the life out of her."
I swallowed and I saw that he was suffering. Niall stood up and came over to me.
"That's why it's so important for you not to make the same mistakes, Emma." he took my hands and looked into my eyes. "Every day I have to live with the knowledge that I killed a girl."
I swallowed.
"Who was she?"
Niall hesitated. He looked down at the floor and I saw that he wasn't sure if he would answer me.
"My brother's wife!"
Niall looked into my eyes.
"The first week I was a vampire, I wanted to stay with my family. One evening I was cravings and I couldn't stop myself. I killed her in the middle of the yard and then I had to leave my family forever. I heard that my brother thought that even I was murdered, but the truth was that it was me that he would hate and not feel sorry for."

I realized I wanted to stay with Niall. I stopped to think about leaving him and I knew he needed me. Louis had just own me, but Niall really cared about what I felt. He did everything for me and many times he forgot himself.

"Emma, have you ever wanted to marry a man?"
I was startled and just stared at Niall.
"Huh? I'm only sixteen years old?"
He laughed.
"No, it's been more than a year now and you will soon be eighteen years old."
I hesitated.
"Niall isn't it enough that we're a couple?"
He hesitated and then shook his head.
"You will always will be Louis's creation and I want to be more than just the one you're with."
I laughed a little bit and sat down beside him on the sofa.
"Is it important to you?"
He nodded and took my hand.
"I know it doesn't mean so much but it would be wonderful to call you my wife."
I saw at him that he really wanted to marry me. I hadn't even thought of the idea and it was new to me.
"Let me think about it." I whispered. Niall nodded and was at least happy that I haven't said no. He kissed me lightly and then released my hands.
"There's at least a good idea?"
I laughed and nodded.
"But I have to get used to it."
