They finally reached some hills that had many holes and the view astonished him. Green hills, a couple of trees and lot of foxes that came running towards him, they jumped out of the holes, and it seemed that they were everywhere. They had gathered around him. Lifted him up, cheering, and jumping all the way.
"We are home now. Welcome to our home. Stay for dinner or should I say, enjoy the cooking pot. Hahahah" Duzenbaz screamed aloud.
They still had Ryo lifted up high and were going towards one of the holes. Ryo was in shock. They almost reached the hole and wanted to go in as Ryo was too big to fit these tiny holes.
"Well we have to cook him out here then." One of the other foxes yelled. "Let's tie him up and prepare for tonight."
They left him and gathered for a feast. Ryo was coming back to normal senses and was thinking whether it was a bad idea to leave home. Would they really eat him? He should have had stayed home? Moreover, why did he not fight for his freedom? After all, he knew some fighting arts. It is different from being in the school than facing real terror and fear. He could not escape now.
Pictures of his father, his town and everything else came to his mind. How would he give anything for freedom and return back home to his father? He was disappointed that his big journey would end already and terrified by the thought, that they would eat him. His head down, hands up on his head and looking sad and it was, as he almost wanted to cry. He saw the feather that Yujin had given him and he started to play with it and started to hum silently some of the songs he could remember from his childhood.
"Oh how time is precious
good friends are so gracious
think about whom you choose
one would feed you wisdom
the other makes you booze
test before making a friendship
an eternal bond makes a pleasures trip"
His eyes suddenly fell on Yujin that flew down to him and started biting the ropes as the foxes were busy having fun and partying he was finally freed and silently started to run away. He then suddenly remembered he had forgotten Daisuke.
He whistled for him and heard the party crashing and hearing their screams. "He has escaped! Find him!"
Daisuke hurried towards him as he jumped on him and started to run away as the foxes were right behind him.
The only way out was the way back on the path that lead to the old farmlands and cornfields although there was a long way.
There was no way they could reach him as Daisuke was fast and out of reach for the hungry foxes.
Earlier that year Ryo actually came second in the four town racing tournament with Daisuke. The famous four town race is held in the mountains were people from the four towns compete to win the trophy and the honor of being the best mountain goat rider and that year Shizuka won.
