9. The dilemma at the footsteps of the old farmland
There he was again in front of the farmland. Fearing it and thinking over and over again. He was scared in fact terrified. He just escaped death and now he had a dilemma. Either he could risk going through the farmland or he could go back home and serve noodles to the customers who loved his father’s cooking. Yes Ryo was thinking about his father. He had to make up his mind as the foxes could reach him anytime now. “I can’t go back now, I need to face my fear and I need to become someone I am not yet” he thought out loud. He felt as if his master whispered something to him and listening closely he could understand that he should be wise instead of jumping into something which he didn’t know anything of. “Hmm, there must be a way to see what it is that’s lurking in the crops,” he was talking to Yujin. “Aha, I’ve got an idea Daisuke. You just watch,” Ryo smiled. He took a stone and threw it close to the edge of the farm to see what came out. Suddenly he saw the crops moving and out came a cat. Smiling towards Ryo and saying: “You didn’t see any rat around here did you?” “Are you a cat? Hahahaha, I thought there were some dangerous creeps in the farm as the foxes told me,” he bursted out into laughter again. “Well… were hiding in here… so the foxes can’t see us… and there are plenty of rats in here for us to eat,” the cat said playing around with his tail. “So I can walk in here easily?” Ryo asked. “Yes… unless… you smell like a rat…” the cat answered. So Ryo took a step in the crop and with an instant he was surrounded by disappointed cats. One of them said:”I thought we had found us a giant rat, but you are too big!” the others started laughing and disappeared slowly. One of the cats came close to Ryos leg and purred: “Where are you heading?” “Well I am kind of trying to find my destiny. I want to see what’s outside as I have only lived inside Pandaqom. And well my master kind of hinted that I am supposed to do great things,” Ryo explained. “So you are headed out in the big world. A world where dangerous beings would eat you before you even get to know what happened to you and just because of a hint?” the cat jumped up on Daisuke. Ryo started to think as the cat really had a point. What if I wasn’t the one he was referring to or maybe he was speaking generally. What if everyone thought they could be great personalities? Ryo kind of got into a deep thought and fell asleep close to the forsaken farm mill. In a deep sleep he dreamt that his teacher and master took his hand and said: “Ryo, everyone is great in the eyes of the All mighty, but never think you are great.” Ryo woke up again after the short powernap and understood what his teacher said. Everyone can do great things as long as they don’t see themselves as being greater. Off he went towards the end of the farmlands.
