9. chapter nine.

Jena's POV.

"Dad?" i ask shocked.

"Jenny." he says almost relieved.

ugh, i hate it when he calls me that. I'm not 5 anymore, Dad!

"what are you doing here?" i ask, still slightly shocked.

"Can i not visit my baby girl in hospital?" he asks, pretending to be hurt.

"you haven't spoken to me since i was 14. whats suddenly changed in these 3 years!" i yell at him.

"that's in the past. things are going to be different now." he says.

"How? How will things be different? Last time you said things would be different i had to live with Dean!" i yell.

"Jenny, i promise. Your mum's been offered a job in Spain. we're moving there in a few weeks. that mean we can spend more time together. like we used to, remember?"

"so you think you can just come back and make everything okay? Shit just doesn't work like that anymore, Dad!"

i get up from the bed and push past my Dad. i leave the room and walk down the empty hospital corridors. i can hear him shouting after me but after a minute he gives up.

i keep walking down the corridors, hoping to see someone, a doctor maybe, to help me find a phone. but there's no one. you'd think there'd be a lot of people around here.

as i walk along, the song 'A-Team' by Ed Sheeran gets stuck in my head. i sing it out loud since there's no one around.

White lips, pale face
Breathing in snowflakes
Burnt lungs, sour taste

Light's gone, day's end
Struggling to pay rent
Long nights, strange men

And they say
She's in the Class A Team
Stuck in her daydream
Been this way since eighteen
But lately her face seems
Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries
And they scream
The worst things in life come free to us
Cause we're just under the upper hand
And go mad for a couple grams
And she don't want to go outside tonight
And in a pipe she flies to the Motherland
And sells love to another man
It's too cold outside
For angels to fly
Angels to fly

Ripped gloves, rain coat
Tried to swim and stay afloat
Dry house, wet clothes

Loose change, bank notes
Weary-eyed, dry throat
Call girl, no phone

And they say
She's in the class A Team
Stuck in her daydream
Been this way since eighteen
But lately,
her face seems
Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries
And they scream
The worst things in life come free to us
Cause we're just under the upper hand
And go mad for a couple grams
And she don't want to go outside tonight
And in a pipe she flies to the Motherland
And sells love to another man
It's too cold outside
For angels to fly

Covered in white
Closed eyes
And hoping for a better life
This time, we'll fade out tonight
Straight down the line

And they say
She's in the Class A Team
Stuck in her daydream
Been this way since eighteen
But lately her face seems
Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries
They scream
The worst things in life come to us
'And we're all under the upper hand
Go mad for a couple grams
And we don't want to go outside tonight
And in a pipe we fly to the Motherland
And sell love to another man
It's too cold outside
For angels to fly
Angels to fly
To fly, fly
For angels to fly, to fly, to fly
or angels to die

"You always did think you couldn't sing."

i spin around quickly to see who had spoke. Louis is standing there leaning against the wall.

"how did you get in here?" i ask.

"Just said that Mum asked me to stay here with you whilst she's wherever, and they said OK." he says.

"seriously?"

"yeah, the fact that i used the be friends with the girl might have something to do with it." he says and laughs a little.

"so why are you out here and not lying in bed?" he asks.

"my dad showed up. He's such a dick, trying to get me to move to Spain with him, like you cant just ignore me for 3 years then be like 'hey, wanna come to Spain with us?' i don't know if he's still there or not, so here i am." i say.

"Well i was just there, the place is empty." he says.

"lets go then, because im seriously tired."

we start walking back to my room. still no people. weird.

"you really can sing." he says.

"no i cant." i say.

"That's not what youtube says."

"what?"

he takes out his phone and taps on it. a video of me singing starts playing.

" and the comments, 'she is such a good singer' 'wow, she should audition for X-Factor!'  'OMG she is amazing!' " he says in girly voices.

"i actually hate you! why did you upload that! i bet everyone from school will see that." i say.

"chill, Jen. I'll sort of the people at school. Once they see you walk in with us, they'll love you." he says.

"Us?" i ask.

"yeah. Me, Zayn, Niall and Liam."

"what about Harry?"

he hesitates before answering, "he'll come round."

"he hates me."

"pretty much. but once he see's how not-a-bitch you are, it'll be just how it used to."

we get to my room and he opens the door for me. i say thanks then walk over to my bed. i jump on it and get comfortable on it. i see Louis looking awkward just standing there.

"this bed is kinda big, you can sleep on it if you want." i say.

he gives me a questioning look.

" i really don't mind, plus I'm really cold." i rub my arms, trying to heat them up.

"fine." he sighs.

he sits on the bed next to me and i pull the blanket up to cover us. he puts his arm around my shoulders and i lay my head on his chest.

"I really am Sorry, Jen." he whispers.

"I know." i whisper.

He kisses my forehead, then i fall asleep.
