Equal Ice

I’m a performer, but I don’t act on a regular stage. I dress up in costumes, but I don’t play a character. My stage isn’t one in a theater; it’s clean slick ice at a rink. I don’t play a character, I’m just myself. Sometimes on the ice though, I feel like I’m someone else. Someone who is graceful and beautiful, it’s still me though, just a different side of me. A side that I like much more than my everyday self. Ice skating is much more work than people may think though, and some people don’t consider it a sport. It’s not as extreme as hockey for example. I may not look very tough, but I can accelerate faster than the guys on the racetrack. I take harder impacts than a rider being thrown from a bull. And I handle more G-Force than a fighter pilot. So why just be extreme, when you can be extremely graceful.

Chapter 126

Gabrielle’s POV

A couple more days passed, and I was so happy when I woke up this morning after a slight freak out that I woke up to late, I remembered that today was the day I had a break from practice. I was excited because Bella and I had planned a shopping trip for today and it felt like so long since we’ve done that. It felt like it’s been so long since she hadn’t hated me or was angry with me.

Everything seemed to get better with everyone. I was talking with my dad more, talking and hanging out with Bella more, things were almost back to the way they used to me and if not better for me and my dad. I still had some small moments where I really missed Harry, but I was starting to get over those moments quickly.

I got out of bed and headed to my closet to find something to wear. I decided to dress up a bit more to go shopping today, so I settled on some jeans with a burgundy sweater. I added a scarf and a necklace with it, as well as a few bracelets.

After putting on some knee socks and a pair of boots, I grabbed my purse and headed downstairs. My dad took today off and he told me that once I got home from shopping with Bella that we could go out for dinner or something like that. I of course was excited about that so I was going to make sure that I was home by at least late dinnertime if not early.

I doubted that Bella and I were going to stay out that long anyway. I grabbed a quick breakfast when I headed downstairs since Bella was going to be here any minute.

My dad and I talked for a bit, but it was mostly him talking to me since I wanted to finish my cereal before Bella got here.

Just as I was getting up with put my now empty bowl in the sink, I heard the doorbell ring.

“Well I’ll see you later then,” my dad smiled and I said by to him before grabbing my purse and heading to the front door. I opened it to see Bella just like I had suspected. I yelled another bye to my dad before heading out the door and to the driveway where Bella’s car was.

“Ready to go shopping,” Bella said excitedly as we both got into the car.

“Definitely,” I answered, and then Bella started up the car and began to back out of the driveway.

“Do you want to go to the outlets or the mall?” Bella asked me as she began to drive out of the neighborhood.

“Let’s go to the outlets,” I answered.

The weather was pretty nice outside, not as cold as usual so I decided we should take advantage of it and shop outside today since it’s only going to get colder as the months come.

So Bella drove us to the outlets, it took a bit longer than it would’ve if we went to the mall since the outlets were a bit further out of town, but I didn’t mind. Bella turned on the radio, and she of course went on about some pieces of clothing that she wanted to get.

Everyday she seemed to have a whole new list of clothing items that she wanted.

As much as missed having Bella as my best friend, I certainly could not say that I missed her obsession with clothes, even if it did come in handy sometimes. Bella found a spot to park in the parking lot, and the two of us got out of the car. I usually didn’t buy anything when we went shopping, I just watched Bella try on endless amounts of clothes.

Today though I decided that I would try to be more like her as far as shopping goes. I had s good amount of money saved up and I decided to spend a bit of it today.

We walked through the entrance of the outlets, and Bella picked the first store to go into. Not even after a minute of being in the store and Bella already had a handful of clothes in her hand to try on, whereas I hadn’t even picked out one thing to get.

I wanted to be more like Bella in the sense of dressing up a bit more I guess as opposed to my outfit every time that I went out somewhere was a sweater and jeans.

Occasionally I would add a bit more to it, but not always. I wasn’t sure why I even suddenly cared so much, but I did.

Bella helped me pick out a few things to try on, and then we both went to the dressing rooms. Both of us stepped out of our dressing rooms at the same time to see if we liked what the other had tried on. Bella ended up getting one thing from the store, and I settled with two of the clothing items that I had tried on. The next store that we went into was a bit bigger than the last one, so Bella and I split up as we scavenged the store for clothes that we liked.

I was mindlessly sliding through hangers on the rack, looking for something that caught my eye.

Harry’s POV

The night that I left practice when my aunt had made me go back, what Zack had said to be had really gotten to me as the night went on. I had been driving around for a few minutes, and I was positive that I was lost. I didn’t mind though when I saw a bar in sight and decided just to go in.

The parking lot was vacant except for a couple of cars parked sporadically. I parked my car amongst them, and got out.

I headed up to the entrance, and when I walked in, the strong scent of alcohol and musk instantly filled my senses, and I was already starting to feel a bit better.

I’ve only been in a scene like this once back in England with a few friends, but I’ve never felt like this is what I really needed to make me feel better at the moment.

I told the bartender to bring me whatever she wanted to, and she came back a few moments later with a glass cup filled with a brown liquid.

I downed it right when I got it and requested another. I probably stayed there for about an hour, pacing myself with the drinks since I still had to drive back home. By the time that I decided that I should head back home, I was just a bit tipsy, but still aware of my surroundings.

As I was walking back out to my car, I had finally made my decision of what I wanted to do. When I got home, I ignored all my aunt’s demands to tell me where I had been and what happened at practice. I instead just straight up told her what I had decided to do.

She could tell that I obviously had been drinking since I was a bit drunk, so she told me to sober up a bit and think more about what I was saying and see what I thought tomorrow, but I knew that I wasn't going to change my mind.
