One year ago :
I walked into his room, leaving the door open. He smiled and chuckled at my cautiousness.
"Ready to do this?" He asked.
"Yep." I replied, taking a seat at his computer. As I turned it on I asked, "So what's our topic?"
Turning towards him, I felt my breath hitch at the space between us. He chuckled and his fingertips traced my lips. "You."
I moved his hand away and glanced at the door. "What are we gonna say about me?" I asked.
Derrick looked over at the door and chuckled, as if I told him something funny. He got up and walked to the door, slamming it shut and locking it.
"Your name, Avalon, is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Your voice is the second most beautiful thing I've ever heard." He took a seat back on his bed. "Your smile is like seeing a glimpse of heaven." He drew his face closer to mine, his voice a meer whisper this time. "And I wanna kiss you so bad."
And then we were kissing. It was so bad, especially since my best friend was in love with him. But I couldn't help it, they weren't together anyways so it wasn't that wrong, right?
His lips tugged on my bottom lip, making me tug on his hair to keep him in place. He chuckled against my lips and pulled my hips closer to his. I couldn't fight the smile that was growing on my lips.
"God, I love you so much Avalon," he mumbled as he trailed his lips down to my neck. I couldn't stop myself from saying it anymore. He'd been telling me he loved me for months now. And we'd been doing this for about a year. I knew it was wrong, how would Becca react to this?
She'd probably stop talking to me for the rest of my life, but I couldn't keep fighting it anymore. Was it my fault we were somehow always partnered up? Or that our last names started with the same letter, which caused that? No. It wasn't.
I felt him begin to nibble behind my earlobe and moaned. "I love you too." I whispered.
Suddenly he stopped. Everything seemed to freeze as he slowly pulled away from me. His eyes were glossy and I felt my hand caress his rough cheek to make him stop. I don't want to see him cry, not in a million years.
"Really? You.." He whispered. I felt myself let out a shaky laugh.
"Derrick Sonnet, I love you more than anyone could ever imagine," I told him as I smiled.
He began to laugh before pulling me into another kiss. "About," he said between kisses,"time."
