"Ugh..." I groan, rubbing my sore head with my hand. I have a pounding headache, my body aching everywhere. Rubbing my tired green eyes, I blink them a couple of times, trying to focus my vision.
A musical laugh that was just a memory or so long fills my ears, bringing my gaze to rest on a figure sitting in my bedroom. I didn't have to
see them to know who she was. Her beautiful, accented voice gave it away from the start.
Long blonde hair falling in waves down to her bellybutton, her usually wide blue eyes slightly crinkled due to the smile on her face. She looks exactly the same as she did the day she first showed up here at Neverland.
"I was definitely not expecting that reaction from you!" She explains, her Irish accent slightly faded from her sweet voice.
Absentmindedly, she adjusts her white lace crop top, the shirt working perfectly with her faded, high waisted jean shorts. She always looked put together when it came to her clothes and hair.
I run a nervous hand through my tangled red locks, hoping I didn't look too awful. Pulling the sides of my black plaid shirt over my grey bandeau covered chest, I sit up in my messy bed, eyeing the Irish girl warily.
"What are you doing here, Harmonie?" I ask her hesitantly. Niall's sister showing up here is the biggest shock ever. With everything going on the way it is, it's almost too much for me to handle.
Harmonie just grins cheekily at me, giggling slightly as she jumps up out of her chair and tackles me on my bed. "Why can't you act happier about me being here?!" She begs, bouncing up and down on her knees, causing me to chuckle slightly as she makes silly faces down at me.
"I'm in total shock!" I reply, not sure how else to explain the emotions I'm feeling at the moment. Does she know that the bus are looking for her? Does she know they were here? Oh my God. Does Harmonie know that Liam is in the hospital?
Question after question soars through my head, not helping my headache at all. Harmonie doesn't seem to notice though, her totally lost in we own thoughts, humming along to a song I don't recognize.
"Harmonie...what re you doing back here?" I repeat my earlier question, snapping her out of the melody inside her head.
"Hmmm? Oh! Um...I missed you Wen! Aren't I allowed to visit my best friend?" She exclaims, fault to convince me that that is her true reason for being here. Sighing, obviously accepting the fact that I'm not believing that, she looks me in the eye.
"Something's happened, Wen...something bad..." She whispers, her blue eyes becoming watery.
"Here you go, Mr. Horan. He's right in there." The grouchy doctor explains, walking away before even finishing the last word. I roll my eyes, loads of curses that I would like to yell at him filling my mind.
Fixing my blue eyes on the pale white door, I hesitantly reach forward, gripping onto the cold, brass doorknob. Nervous thought run through my mind, making me almost pull my hand away from the door and walking back to the waiting room.
"Relax Niall, relax. Your mate needs you." I mumble to myself, making sure I sound somewhat convincing. It wasn't working too well.
I breathe a huge sigh, readying myself and plastering a fake smile on my face before slowly opening the door. I'm met by total and complete darkness.
Stepping into the room, I close the door softly behind me, the only sound filling the silence is the beeping of machines. I glance around, adjusting my gaze to the blackness of the hospital room.
"Li...?" I whisper. The only response I receive is the shuffling of sheets. I navigate my way towards the sound.
"Liam...? Answer me mate, I can't see a thing..." I whisper louder, cursing slightly as I hit my foot on the corner of something. A almost familiar sounding chuckle fills the room, giving me a slight glimmer of hope.
"I'm over here, Nialler..." A raspy, but familiar sounding Wolverhampton accent explains, helping me find my way over to the hospital bed.
"Well, that was a trip..." I say sarcastically, grimacing as I wiggle my aching toes. Liam chuckles, the raspy and deep sound filling the room.
"That was probably the best part of my day..." My best friend explains, his voice tired and worn out. His breathing is slow and deep, the atmosphere of the room dark and depressing.
"I'm glad my clumsiness could amuse you!" I explain, chuckling deeply. Liam attempts to do the same, a wet, ghastly sounding cough erupting from his chest instead. My heart breaks at the fragile mess that my friend has become.
"I guess I went a big overboard this time, eh?" Liam pipes in, trying to sound comical but instead coughing once again. A sigh escapes his lips.
Sadness and guilt fills my chest. I feel like this is my fault."Oh Li...why-" I begin.
"DON'T oh Li me. Do not feel sorry for me! I'm tired of you guys feeling sorry for me. This is just how it was the first time you found me. All four of you just felt sorry for me. I don't want that! This was my decision. I did what I did. I went a little too far. Oh well. Ill be fine. Just...just leave!" Liam outbursts, causing me to step back slightly. He begins to cough rapidly, thick, wet sounding coughs that leave him gasping for air.
At that moment, the beeping machines increase in sound and speed, lights blinking on multiple devices. Liam lays there, gasping for air that refuses to fill his lungs, his arms reaching out, trying to grab something that isn't there.
Panicking, I bolt out of the room, screaming for help. It was at that moment that all of the sounds, all of the lights, all of the gasps stop. Silence is all that's left.
