2. The battles that are yours to fight
"Don't you EVER talk about my parents like that ever again!! and I am sure they knew better than to work for people like you, son of a bitch!!" I said, while sucker-punching her in the face and watching her fall to the ground. However, the other thing that I didn't realize was the fact that Mr.Hooper, our principal, saw me do all of that. He then grabbed me by the wrist and took me to his office. When we finally arrived to his office, we both sat down as he started to raise his voice at me.
"What the hell was that?" He started. "Mackenzie has never done anything to you and now you just want to start this huge fight for no reason? I thought better of you. No wonder you have no friends. you're a bully." I got so angry, I ended up raising my voice loud enough so that he could hear me and said,
"I'm not putting up with this. Not today, sir. Mackenzie has tormented me for as long as I can remember. And today, she crossed the line. She came up to me and started calling me a smart ass nerd, lifted me up off of the ground by my neck, and teased me about my parents. So if you're here to defend Mackenzie and Amber to avoid them getting in trouble for their wrong doing, we can take this to court and you can tell it to the judge. If you think I'm lying, you can put me in the stripes and shackles and we can start our case right now. Otherwise, I rest my case." He seemed impressed with my confidence and choice of words, but really pissed off that I even dared to speak over him and make him seem like an idiot. But hey, I said what wanted and I'm happy about it. My mental party was ruined when Mr.Hooper said,
"I'm going to have to call your par- orphanage. I thought I could expect more from you, but now I know not to expect much from you. I'm also going to give you a 3-day suspension." I really wasn't in the mood to deal with whatever sister Myra had in store for me so I said,
"You can call her and tell her what I did and give me a 3-day suspension, but I'm gonna walk home. Have a nice rest of the day and the next three days without me." With that, I walked right out of the door before he could tell me to come back and wait. I listened to the sound of the school bell as I walked strait out those doors.
