The Creed Original book adaptation

I had to make a script for my theater class and I was working on the book at that moment so I manged to easily adapt chapters 2 and 3 into the performance but then my director from my group said from my second try in the class (I had to retake the class due to medical leave) that it was two short and that I needed a few more charters to incorporate everyone in the script so I did so without further adew here is The Creed: Theater adaptation.

2. the Skript normal

Arcum comes in with Winter who is six. Arcum wears a tight cloak hoody combo and dark blue jeans that have a bit of blood on them, and Winter is wearing bright pink pants and an oversized dark jacket. The place is dark and abandoned, perfect for this band of assassins. Garen is sitting on a broken statue’s base sharpening his darts. He shows his birthmark on his head proudly that unites the family, which is an A with a curved middle connecting the upside down V portion and a roman numeral showing the generation number by keeping his head completely shaven.

Winter:

(Entering with Arcum) Thanks for finding me Arcum. I hope that the group accepts me.

Arcum:

(Mostly to self) I just hope that I’m not making a huge mistake.

Garen:

(Rising) Arcum you’re back from your assignment, we were going to have to….. (Winter appears from behind Arcum and Garem is shocked) What is SHE doing here! Shiv isn’t going to like this. (He shakes his head in disbelief and returns to sharpening his knives)

Arcum:

I found her, she’s one of us.

Garen:

(Looking up at Arcum and pointing his dart at him) How do you know? Unless you are absolutely sure…

Arcum:

(Now looking crossed) I am! Based on that she is umm…. (Pulls Winter to his side)

Garen:

(Looking stunned and trying to keep his voice down not knowing that Shiv is entering from behind him through one of the archway. Her hair is cropped short and she has on a long coat that is a dress and knee high boots. Her gloves bear the mark of the assassins and have the same marking as a birthmark on her face) Poor shame on the Creed. You left a witness…

Shiv:

(Letting herself be known and making everyone jump)Well, who’s this? (Goes directly to Winter as Winter scurries behind Arcum)

Winter:

 A…Arcum found me.

Shiv:

(Smiling a sly and friendly smile and glancing suspiciously towards Arcum) Arcum found you?

Garen:

(Under his breath but just loud enough for the audience to hear)Ohhhhhhh no.

Arcum:

We can explain!

Winter:

 We can?

Arcum:

(Nudges Winter and looks quickly down to keep her quiet) I found her during my hit and she is one of us.

Shiv:

Oh? So you left a witness. (Slowly lifts dagger or sword out of its holster and slowly shines it into stage light)  You know the punishment for leaving a witness in the creed? (slides finger along dull edge) Unless you can prove that she is one of us.

Arcum:

Umm. (looks down and remembers that he felt something like the marking of the assassin on the back of Winter’s neck) Of course I can! Winter turn around!

Winter:

What?!

Arcum:

(Rushed) You heard me turn around and lift your hair.

Winter:

But why?

Arcum:

Just…here! (He forces Winter to turn around and liftes her hair to show that in the middle of the back of her neck was the mark of the assassin)

Shiv:

(Impressed as Garen tries to come for a closer look as the group is surrounding Winter.  Shiv pushes him back harshly without him getting a glance) Arcum, can I speak to you in private? (Glares around angrily making everyone leave except Arcum and Leads him off to the side forcefully next to the bookshelf that is behind the desk the last one to leave is Winter but Garen grabs her hand and whispers something in her ear making them leave to another ariea )

Shiv:

(Leading Arcum into the area where a desk and a chair is. She yanking him around to where he loses his balance. Her face is in complete panic as Arcum leans on the desk for support as he tries to calm himself from being shoved in)

You know what you have done?

Arcum:

I found her! Aren’t you happy that I might have found Greave’s sister since she has passed a few years ago from being caught on a hit.

Shiv:

That’s the problem!! She didn’t want her to be found!!

Arcum:

Oh that’s right… But, that doesn’t mean she is Greave’s sister. She might be a broken descendent of the creed. (He goes over to bookcase and scans the books and takes out one and starts searching through it quickly but suspiciously.) We can’t rule that out. (He puts the book on the shelf, but is out of the way and skims another in haste)

Shiv:

True. (Sits in desk chair) But all this time. This girl had been in hiding and bears the mark of the assassin.  This can’t be happening. In all my days of living here and working my way up…

Arcum:

You were given the job since Greave had no successor, her word!

Shiv:

I know just that. I miss her. It has been a long time since she had passed. She was the best. And canning that got the job done right but, it was that that made her such a loveable person.

Arcum:

You can say loveable. Me, I say an awesome reflection. (Snickers)

Garen:

(Opens the door slowly) Shiv, do you have the next job figured out?

Shiv:

(Swipes a pen from a holster that is perched at her desk and throws it at Garen and he ducks and runs off stage as the pen fallows him) No!

(Pause turns to Arcum)

You better be sure, Arcum, that Winter is as good or else you know the consequences. I hate playing games. Better be as lucky as you have been or we are all in trouble, including me. We can’t trust that child. (Abruptly stands and storms towards the exit across the stage,  Arcum looks like he found something important as Shiv swings turns to him angry and holding her dagger out in a threating way)  You hear me Arcum? You put yourself and ME in danger! ( leaves door slam sound effect)

Arcum:

(Accidently drops book when the door slams. A spotlight focuses on Arcum) That was too close. At least I found Greave’s diary or at least the last moments. I know that I shouldn’t be doing this but I need info about Winter. Here goes nothing…. (Opens book and starts reading as Greave walks onstage and sneaks into the thrusted out chair. Arcum has to scurry through pages to find his spot, as Greave does this as soon as she starts writing he starts reading her book)

Arcum starts and Greave takes over:

Shiptake, 200, giver con art, 3,000. Hit 5 recovered 2…. (Greave takes over lines while Arcum reads silently) Other news, saw little sis today from the distance. She looks like our mom. Winter is only three and hiding as a foster child. They are treating her well, but she doesn’t understand that will serve her well. If it all works well, I’m hoping to get her adopted and watch her go into the sunset of being safe. It’s hard but I know that I can keep the creed alive if I marry soon but this will fail. I don’t want anybody else to get the job, it’s too much on one person. (Arcum takes over and spotlight fades on Greave to only showing Arcum and Greave exits silently) so I wish I could give my sis and I a better life but it is late for me. I would hate it if Shiv got the job and no one was avalible to take out Winter’s hair dye since that is her only true disguise.

(Spotlight lifts and Greave is gone, leaving Arcum alone again)

Arcum:

She’s …her…sister….what have I gotten myself and Winter into? Greave, I hope that you are lying to me. I don’t like this feeling.  I was just trying to save her. Not put her into so much trouble and Shiv is going to possibly kill her. The Creed is in trouble, I’m in trouble, and worst….

Winter:

(Runs towards Arcum ) Arcum, Shiv keeps wanting me to bathe with her!

Arcum:

(Slams book closed and calmly puts it on the shelf while shaking his head.) Let her, we all had to do it one way or another, even me. She is just making sure that that birthmark of yours is real but if not then…. We need to run away.

Winter:

(Nervous) Can we leave, before this all happens?  I’m scared.

Arcum:

(Tries to comfort her) Don’t be afraid, all she would possibly do is strip your hair color out and scrub the back of your neck. She isn’t going skinny dipping with you, she isn’t that evil.

Winter:

It’s just odd that Shiv wants to give me a bath when everyone smells.

Arcum:

That’s thinking like an assassin.

Winter:

A what?

Arcum:

Nothing, just that you are starting to think like one of us. Just I think you are starting to belong here and that is a good thing.

Winter:

(Perky) Really?

Arcum:

Ya, just that you have to be careful whom you can trust.

Winter:

I can trust you, can I?

Arcum:

(Laughing) Why should you think otherwise?

Winter:

You said to be careful whom to trust.

                                                                        Arcum;

(Realizing he messed up.) That’s right. But I would say not to trust everyone you know here. We might be called a family, but we are nothing like one you might know.

Winter:

(Confused) Can I trust Shiv? She seems mean for being a leader.

(Garen enters through the doorway and pokes his head in he is too happy to be getting Winter)

Garen:

There you are Winter, Shiv had been looking everywhere for you! You are needed to see if you are truly Grev(notices that Arcum is glaring at him)…. One of us!  She wants you straight away.

Winter:

(Stares at Arcum) Should I trust Shiv?

Arcum:

(Hiding the fear inside) You should, she is a good mentor and a wonderful friend. I will be right here when you are done. Besides, she won’t prove anything that we don’t already know.

(Winter grabs Garen’s hand and walks out with him leaving Arcum alone again with his thoughts and the lights dim on the scene)

Arcum:

(Echoes in the darkness) I hope.
