Falling Friendship

Alice Arbler and Santana Swent have been BFFs for nine years! When 6th grade comes they expect it to be the same: them being BFFs. But sudden changes in the summer tell them nothing is going to be the same. Alice and Santana must find pathways that don't connect. But each time they think they did, everything crashes and they have to start over again. Everyone they like seems to like everyone the other girl likes. Can they find a social life by the end of the school year? Or will they be doomed to spend the rest of the middle school life unsteady and on a rocky road?

7. Alice

One word that is spelled like so: U-N-F-A-I-R!!!!!! Sometimes I get annoyed a Santana. But this? Really? I know she can't choose the bunk set up, but seriously, is 'sorry' all she's got. She didn't even say 'sorry' outloud! For once, I will say this:

When annoying ol' Amber was done, I was like "@#!$&*!!!!!" In my head but said to Santana, "Ugh. I can't believe it! Do you even care?" I wished I hadn't said it though by the look on her face.

"I care! I need you to have fun. Bunk River Riders won't be fun without you!" she pouted.

"Maybe we could talk to Amber..."

"I don't know..."

"Well, anyway, we can still keep diaries with the friendship notebooks. Right?"

"Of course." and we held hands.

That night, I unpacked. The rest of the bunk were new kids, well, except for Megan Smith.

"So, the news in that Amber got mad at you and your little 'friend'. Is it true?" Megan says in a snotty voice.

"Oh, you want to know about that." I start.

"Yeah. That's right Allison." Megan gets my name wrong for the fifth time today.

"Sure. So, what's up with that?"

"Well, it's really... NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!" I shout.

"You are such a baby. Jeez, you still have friends from baby-hood!" Megan teases.

"How do you know." I ask, turning a pale pink.

"Oh, well, that's none of your business." she taunts.

"Oh, whatever." I roll my eyes. Some people are so immature!

Dear Friendship Diary,

Today was the first day of camp. Santana and I aren't in the same bunk! Boo hoo :-( Amber got mad at us for trying to switch bunks. It went something like this:

Me: Hi Amber.

Amber: Hi girls. Wusup?

Santana: Amber, have you ever had a friend that was really close with you...

Me: And then you got split up and were really upset?

Amber: Sure, lot's of times. That's the way friendships flow.

Santana: Well, me and Alice are that kind of friends and it's our first time at camp when we're not in the same bunk. It's sort of a, a, a, a thing, yeah, a thing, a tradition. It's really lonely without each other and this friendship doesn't flow like your's did.

Amber: You want me, to change your bunks? Seriously, I'd expect you to be more sensible then that! I don't even choose bunks! Why not make NEW friends! With NEW girls? You see each other everyday, every year! Can't you survive for five weeks? Now get out of the Dog House and go socialize with your bunks!

I share a bed with Grace. Megan is mean and is a nosy poop-face! She shares a bunk with Sarah Ida. Sleeps over Elizabeth Rund. Who insists we call her Lisa (she's the bunk head BTW)

Bye for now,

Alice Arbler
