Falling Friendship

Alice Arbler and Santana Swent have been BFFs for nine years! When 6th grade comes they expect it to be the same: them being BFFs. But sudden changes in the summer tell them nothing is going to be the same. Alice and Santana must find pathways that don't connect. But each time they think they did, everything crashes and they have to start over again. Everyone they like seems to like everyone the other girl likes. Can they find a social life by the end of the school year? Or will they be doomed to spend the rest of the middle school life unsteady and on a rocky road?

24. Alice and Santana

It's time to move on. I need a new group of friends. I can't bare to be friends with Santana. It's almost Thanksgiving Break. I'll chill out and mull over the options.

Alice is such a loser! I can't believe we were friends! At least I'll have Brittany and her followers. We should have a sleepover. It's time to show the true Santana. Alice is going away for Thanksgiving Break, I'll be able to live without her for a while then.

My mom's pretty upset. I don't care, it's my life! She can't control who I'm friends with. I'll become friends with Julia and we'll hang out and I'll make my own giant group of friends. Who needs Santana?

I don't think anyone in my family knows Alice isn't my friend anymore. I don't need them to know. I have a life now. Who needs Alice?
