I was running. Running as fast as I could. I wasn't sure what I was running from, but I was scared of whoever it was. As I turned the corner, I tripped over my own feet and fell to the ground, but instead of hitting the hard cement, I kept falling. I screamed out for help, but all I saw was darkness. I finally hit the ground, and the air was knocked out of me. I was lying on my stomach when a rough hand turned me around to face them. The face I saw changed every second. At first I saw the man who tried to hurt me the night I met Harry, I saw my parents, my brother, the man who killed them, and I also saw the faces of the five boys I had grown to trust. I scrambled up and started to run again, but before I could get too far, I stopped to see I was surrounded by all the people I had seen before.
I was trapped, and not sure what to do. So I began to scream.
I kept screaming, as I felt a warm hand grab my shoulder. I was about to shove them off but I opened my eyes to find deep sea green eyes staring into mine.
“It’s ok… Shh… it’s okay.” The person said as he enveloped me in a warm hug. I wept into his chest. He slowly stroked my hair as I began to calm myself down.
I looked up at his face, and a small, reassuring smile came over his face. He helped me up and slowly led me to the couch. I followed him without question. Apparently I had walked in my sleep and was downstairs in the living room. After I had sat down, he left the room, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to follow or not, but I stayed on the sofa. Minutes later he came back with a glass of warm milk which he handed to me. I gratefully took it and began to gulp it down.
As I drank it, he focused he eyes on me, but every time I looked at him, they flittered away.
He got up and turned on the TV to the news. I was glad he hadn’t asked me anything about what happened yet, I’m not sure if I knew what had happened yet. I felt my eyelids begin to get heavy as I slouched down into the couch. I placed my glass on the side table and I slowly drifted off to sleep.
What felt like minutes later, I was being picked up bridal style and carried upstairs. I felt myself being placed in a comfy bed.
I heard a humming coming from the bathroom, I opened my eyes to find Harry brushing his hair in nothing but his boxers. I jerked up, I wasn't in my room, I was in his.
He noticed I was awake and walked over to the bed.
"Hey, I didn't think you wanted to sleep alone, so you can sleep in here if that's okay with you."
I wasn't sure at first if I felt comfortable, but I nodded my head. I didn't want to sleep alone, and I was so tired.
I got under the covers but stayed sitting up with my back up against the wall.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" he asked quietly.
I shook my head quickly.
He looked at me with a worried face, but I just looked away. He sighed as he turned to his nightstand and switched off the lamp. We both settled down with our backs facing each other. I closed my eyes and tried to go to sleep but I just couldn't.
"I saw my family."
Harry turned around slowly and turned on the light. We both sat up, and he faced towards me.
"I saw the drunk man who killed them, the man who tried to rape me and I saw you and the other boys, I don't know why but you were all trying to hurt me, you all were mad at me and all I could do was run.... Run away...." I sobbed.
He enveloped me in a hug. "Amber, we would never hurt you.... I would never hurt you." he said calmly.
"I know," I replied. "Thank you." I said as I looked up into his emerald eyes.
He looked down at me and stooped down to kiss my forehead. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh. I felt safe in his arms.
He turned around and again switched off the light. We both laid down again but this time Harry put his arm around my waist and drew me closer to him, and for some weird reason, I didn't object. As I fell asleep, I felt a small smile creep onto my face.
I woke up the next morning to a door being slammed open, and met by the enraged face of none other than Louis Tomlinson. Harry and I both sat up quickly as Louis approached the bed.
"Harry Styles what the HELL?" Louis yelled
"Louis it's not--" Harry stammered.
"Amber go to your room... Now." Louis said harshly. I wasn't sure what to do so I obeyed him quietly. As I left the room I saw three pairs of eyes staring back at me with questioning looks on their faces. I quickly walked into my room, shut the door, and sat on the bed.
All I could hear was screaming.
"How could you Harry?!?" Louis yelled.
"Louis, it's not what it looks like!" Harry countered.
"Oh SURE it isn't would you like to explain??"
I felt tears starting to pour out of my tired eyes. I was scared that Louis was actually mad at me.
"Louis... she had a nightmare... I didn't want her sleeping alone. It was scary, watching her suffer like that so I thought--" Harry said quietly.
"Is she okay now?" Louis asked worriedly.
"Honestly, she's probably scared out of her mind." Harry replied.
The conversation ended, either way I didn't want to hear anymore. I pulled the covers over me and buried my head under a pillow.
Seconds later, I heard my door creak open and close, and footsteps padding against my carpet. My bed sank further as the intruder sat down next to me.
"Amber.... I'm sorry." I heard Louis whisper. "I jumped to conclusions, when I should've asked you for an explanation first. I didn't mean to scare you, I was just scared...."
I slowly sat up and came out from under the covers. I saw his face and quickly wrapped my arms around his waist and wept into his chest. He slowly stroked my hair as I took deep breaths to try and calm myself down. We sat there for a while, embracing each other, until Louis sat me up and looked straight at me.
"You know the only reason I reacted like that is because I care about you a lot, and I don't want to see you get hurt." he said quietly. I nodded.
"Good. I love you Amber Tomlinson, and I will never let anyone hurt you, okay?"
Again I nodded.
"Now I should go apologize to Harry too, I tend to jump to conclusions when I find a girl in his bed." he said with a chuckle.
I smiled as he walked out of the room. Before he closed the door he turned around,
"Do you trust me, well, all of us?" he asked hesitantly.
I nodded and gave him a small smile. I really did trust them, and I felt safe with them.
He smiled back and slowly shut my door.
After getting dressed and washing up I went downstairs, where I was met by five boys who all stopped what they were doing and just stared at me. I quickly walked over to the couch and took a seat next to Niall who rubbed my back soothingly when I did.
"So Amber," Louis said. "It's warmer today so we were wondering if you wanted to go to the beach?"
I looked at him nervously, not sure if I really wanted to, "I don't have a swim suit." I said.
"Oh don't worry, you don't have to swim, we were just gonna go hang out, maybe have a picnic or something." Liam replied.
I tried thinking of some other excuse, but honestly the beach sounded nice, so I finally agreed.
"Ok great, we can leave in about an hour." Louis said.
"Okay, I'll go get ready." I replied.
As I went upstairs I noticed I was being followed, I turned around to find Harry staring back at me.
"Hey, I just wanted to apologize, I didn't want to make you uncomfortable, and I didn't think Lou would be home when we woke up. I was just worried about you." he said.
"It's fine Harry," I replied smiling, "Thank you by the way... for comforting me, it helped a lot."
"Anytime." he said returning the smile which quickly turned into a frown. "Have you been getting nightmares a lot recently?"
"Honestly, no. Every once in a while, but last night was the first time in a while." I said softly.
"Well, just to let you know, if you ever have one, I'm here." he said. He seemed to question himself before he did, but he stooped down and kissed my forehead.
"Thank you, Harry." I said as we parted and went into our rooms.
I finally realized, I fully trust him.
