"I-I'm sorry but do I know you?" I asked slightly trembling, the blonde boy looked at me with terrified eyes while the others looked astonished at what I said. I couldn't believe what the Doctor told me when he said I was in a coma for a year. Was it that big of a car crash? "K-Kiyle. It's me, Niall Horan, your best friend that you grew up with for five years." Niall? That name didn't sound familiar in my head. I didn't remember anything except my name and identity and a name called Jace. Instead of answering Niall's question I simply asked another "who are you?" I said looking at all the boys. They all looked at each other. "I'm going to get Johns." A boy said with brown hair and handsome eyes. The boy walked out and they all looked back at me. "Who're you guys?" I asked again. "Kiyle? Please tell me this isn't a joke." Niall asked quietly taking my hand. I shook my head, "I'm not joking, who're you guys." Niall squoze my hand and I felt him trembling, did I have some sort of relationship with these boys? If so what we're they to me?
After much discussing and introducing. I knew the boys names and what their relationship was to me. Zayn, Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. Apparently I had grown up with all these boys when I was younger. They were also apart of a famous band called One Direction.
Dr. Johns shined a flashlight in my eyes and did all sorts of tests on me. It was uncomfortable sitting there with 6 men staring at me. I fiddled with my thumbs and tried to register in my mind of what the boys all said to me. "Well, I didn't think that she would walk out of here fine. It seems that my theory was right." I shifted in discomfort as he patted my head "she's suffering from extreme memory loss, she seems to remember everything about herself except for everyone that she knew."
He placed the flashlight in his breast coat pocket and looked back at the boys. "Is it permanent?" Niall looked as if he was just told that he was going to die in a couple of hours. The look on his face was complete terror and it scared me for a reason that I didn't know why. "No it's not permanent, it's just hard to say when she could get her memories back. It could take months, even years." I tilted my head in confusion. Memory loss? Was I really suffering from this? I did know who I was, but I did remember someone by the name of Jace. I being confused , decided to ask a question. "Who is Jace?" Dr. Johns looks at me and raises an eyebrow. "Jace?" He looks back at the boys and asks if they know who a Jace was. I saw a drop of sweat come off of Louis's forehead. "J-Jace?"Zayn stutters "J-Jace is-"
"Jace is dead." Liam blurts, I look at him and he walks over to me and grabs my hand. "Jace was your friend but he was killed in a car accident 4 years ago. He's nothing to worry about." The look in his eye was serious. "So he was just a friend?" Liam nods his head and continues "he went to work with you for a little bit, you hung out with him a couple of times. But you lost touch with him a while ago. It surprised you when you heard that he was killed in a car crash." He smiled at me and stroked my hair. His eyes were full of innocence and you couldn't help but feel safe staring into them.
"He's nothing to be concerned about. I promise." I pulled my hand out of his grasp and nodded. I looked away from him and stared at my lap, this was too much to take in. At this point my head started to hurt and I wanted to sleep. It would be rude for me to do that, I had "friends" that were visiting, I couldn't just tell them to leave.
"Well, I'm sorry if I can't be of any help to you boys. If I had magic I'd give her back her memories in a second. But unfortunately I'm not a wizard." Dr. Johns smiled at me and told me to call anytime if I'm in any pain. After he left, the room went quiet. Did I menetion how uncomfortable it is to be in a room full of guys? The best way I could describe? It feels like a bunch of crows following you as you're walking home, it's scary and you can't push away the feeling of being watched the entire way.
"Kiyle? Are you hungry?" I looked up to see Harry hovering over me. His curly hair was casting a shadow on his face making him look younger. "Um... I'm a bit hungry."
"Would you like something in particular?"
"I don't mind." He patted my head and dragged Liam out the door with him. "Come on Liam, let's go get some food. Niall? Do you want any?" Niall stayed quiet and just stared at the floor. They shrugged their shoulders and walked out the door waving goodbye to me. I felt like something was wrong but I shrugged it off and started to twiddle with my thumbs. Little did I know what was going to happen the rest of today.
Were we nearing the middle of the hallway when Harry's hand reached for my hair and slammed me against the wall. "H-Harry! That-"
"You idiot! Why would you lie to her like that? She's been out for a year and you decide to lie to her about Jace? Are you some idiot?" He pushed my face further into the wall causing me to lose feeling. "It's for the best Harry!" I mumble through a squished face. His eyes flashed with fury and he sighed in disappointment. "Harry, it's for the best, do you think she wants to be reminded of what Jace did to her?!" He remains silent and avoids eye contact with me. "This is a pro to the story. Although she isn't going to remember us for a while. At least she'll know that Jace is out of the picture." Harry releases my face from the wall. I rubbed my face hoping to get the feeling back in my face. He slips his hands into his pockets and kicks the ground. "What if she finds out we were lying? You know how much Kiyle hates lying."
"Then we'll tell her the truth. We'll tell her that she was better off not knowing what happened in the first place." Harry sighs at my statement and pushed his hair out of the way. "Fine, but if she finds out, your going to be responsible for it." He jabs a finger into my chest and I punch him back in the arm. "Fine, let's go get something for Kiyle."
