Milo brought Hellon back home before the sun rose and he waited until she had climbed the rain pipe. When she was in her room again, she turned around and blew him a kiss. He catched it and walked away. She was still warm when she stepped into her bed and tried to sleep.
The next day Hellon had to get up very early, though. It was a new day and that meant time for school. She had to get herself ready, and Pem as well, because her mother always woke up later and her father was already busy working. Now that Benon was back, he would probably want to rest a little longer, too. She couldn't count on Aidon either, because he never did anything for his little brother. And the maid always came around noon.
"Good morning, little boy," Hellon whispered quietly, while she ran a hand through Pem's hair. "It's time for school." Her little brother slowly opened his eyes and looked at her, still half asleep.
"I had a really nice dream." He stretched himself and yawned.
"Why don't you tell me all about it on the way to school? Now we have to get ready." Hellon smiled and took him out of bed.
After she washed Pem and dressed him nicely, she withdrew herself into the bathroom. She took off her night gown and underwear and she threw it into the laundry basket, so that Mother could wash it later that day. Then, she looked at her naked self in the mirror. Her pale skin seemed to glow. She was very thin. Her collarbones were clearly visible. She smiled; Milo always kissed her there. Hellon wondered what Milo thought was most beautiful about her. Was it her body, which she thought was too thin and too small? Was it her blond hair, that almost reached her lower back when she didn't braid it? Or was it her eyes, her intensive blue eyes, which were as clear as the sky? She closed them and sighed in desire. She wanted to wrap her arms around Milo and kiss him so badly. But that had to wait until tonight. Her body longed for Milo MacGraffle as well, but she wanted to keep her virginity. Although she was sure it would never be possible, she wanted to wait until they got married.
Hellon put on a new dress and tied her hair into a bun. Then she got Pem and they went on their way to school.
"So, Pem, are you going to tell me about your dream?" she asked her little brother. The boy thought about the question, like he almost had forgotten about his dream. But then he remembered and his eyes started to shine.
"Oh, yes, my dream!" he said laughing. "It was about you, and Benon, and Aidon. Mother and Father were there too. And Claudia, Benon's girlfriend, although I haven't seen her yet. She was very pretty in my dream."
Hellon smiled. She had to admit that she hadn't thought about her oldest brother's wedding at all. Or about his future wife. Her mind was too busy thinking about Milo. But from what Benon had told her, Claudia seemed very nice. Hellon had no idea of how she looked. In her imagination, Claudia was a young tall woman with red hair. And like Pem said, she had to be pretty.
"We were all at the wedding, and do you know who else there was?" Pem continued enthusiastically.
"No, I don't, Pem," Hellon said.
"Your friend, Milo."
She stopped walking, surprised by what her little brother just told her. Did he really say "your friend, Milo"? But how could he know? He couldn't, could he?
"Pemston, how do you know he's my friend?" she asked him.
"I saw it in my dream, Hellon," he simply answered. "And my dreams never lie to me."
She didn't really listen to him, because she was too busy worrying about her secret friendship with Milo, that wasn't secret anymore. "Pemston, no one can know this, okay? If Father finds out, he'll forbid me to ever speak to him. Maybe I'll never be allowed to leave the house again. Do you understand that?"
"I won't tell anyone, if you don't want to," Pem said. Hellon immediately knew that he meant it. Her brother looked at her and smiled. "Is he your boyfriend?"
"You shouldn't ask your sister such questions, Pem," Hellon said laughing. "Now, come one, or we'll be late for school."
