To be honest, the medication we take is absolutely disgusting. This is going to sound weird, but it tastes nastier than what blood tasted like to humans. You know, when you loose your tooth and the taste is like salt. I know because I haven't always been a vampire. I turned when I was eight.
My parents are my real parents, but my family does not include them. Mom and Dad's place is where I live, where I sleep and stuff, but they don't know what I am. It's not that I don't trust them, I do, but they just aren't like me. There is no way they would understand. No human could.
So lets start with my "vamp family."
Destinee and Sephora are kind of like my sisters. Janise is almost a mom to me. She's the one who taught me about my kind when I was changed. She provides the medication needed. And her husband is also a vampire, Kemal. We all meet at midnight in the forest. Of course, Mom and Dad don't know.
I walk the short walk to my bus stop. My long brown hair is in a French braid and I am wearing my favorite converse. I stand there awkwardly for a while before I see the smelly, yellow school bus.
"Morning." the bus driver tells me as I step on.
I head to the back of the bus to where Destinee is. She smiles. Her wavy blonde hair is perfection compared to mine. Her brown eyes always have a sparkle in them, almost like she is always happy. I know she isn't though. She's like me. Being a vamp is not what you think it would be like.
Destinee opens her backpack and takes out two packages of what looks like ketchup. Not. It is the medication we have to take at least four times a day. Its just in disguise so people won't suspect. Instead they just think we are freaks eating plain ketchup all the time.
She hands one to me. "Cheers to school."
I reply "Yep."
We both get the "ketchup" into our system before we get to the school.
