1. Chapter 1
Some things just don't work out the way you want them to. I learned that the hard way. I thought nothing could ever possibly go wrong and that my life was perfect. Boy was I wrong.
Mum was a singer...before she was killed during a concert. She was in the middle of singing her new single Come Around (the second song she performed) when gunshots were fired. She collapsed. A wave of gasps and murmurs washed over the crowd. Her face growing paler by the second as she lay in her own puddle of blood. Paramedics surrounded her limp body. Just minutes later, she was pronounced dead.
Not much more than two months after Mum's death, Dad was killed in a car accident. He was driving home from his work as a lawyer when a semi-trailer truck rammed into his black mini van, pushing him into the side of the bridge, beheading him.
After Dad's death, I was sent to live with my grandmother. Nothing happened for two years. On my fifteenth birthday, Grandma suffered a heart attack. She was rushed to the hospital. They couldn't save her.
Now at age 17, I live in an orphanage. I'm the oldest one here. No friends. No one to talk to. How fun. My everyday life consists of eating, sleeping, and the usual stuff you do on a daily basis, but nothing more than the basics. Yes, I do go to school, but it's online courses so I don't actually go anywhere. I know you're thinking something along the lines of "Lucky! I want to take online courses. Sounds way better than actually going to school!" It's actually worse. The site I'm using doesn't actually have teachers so a robot just gives you assignments at random. I'm a senior and I've gotten kindergarten work.
Now that you see the joke I like to call my life, let's talk about the people who've been interested in adopting me. Oh yeah, no one.
I also forgot to mention I have REALLY bad luck when it comes to the number 2. Mum was killed while singing the 2nd song on her set list. Two months later, Dad was killed in an accident. Nothing happened for two years when suddenly Grandma had a heart attack.
So that pretty much sums up my life. Nothing exciting.
