28. Picnic Part 2
"Don't look at me like that. I'm finding it very had not to kiss you right now." I said. She looked so beautiful and young. She looked like she was stress free and happy.
"Patience is key Harry." She said with a smile.
"Clara," I was so curious about so many things, "You look so young right now. So at ease and you look so carefree. I'm so glad you're coming with me. Not only for my benefit but for yourself as well. You've worked so hard, some may even say slaved away, you definitely deserve to be as happy as possible, and I will do anything and everything I can to help you achieve this." I said. I wanted to hug her, but the paparazzi or someone would get a picture and make things a living night mare and she might change her mind. I sat up and offered her a hand and she took it. I pulled her up gently.
"Thank you." She whispered looking at her fingers in her lap. "You've already made me happy. I know, I know, it's so cheesy but it's true." She was blushing madly and I couldn't help but laugh a little. "Are you laughing at me Mr.Smiles?" She asks. I stop for a second wiping the tears from my eyes and look at her.
"Indeed I am. But not because of your touching chessy-ness, but because of your bright pink cheeks." Her eyes widen for a second and she looks back into her lap, still blushing. "Come on. Let me get you home." I stand up picking up the basket and she follows, collecting the blanket. We put everything into the trunk of the car and I rush to the passengers seat and open the door. "Ma'am." I say and she smiles.
"Why thank you, kind sir." She jokes and gets inside. I close the door and walk over to the drivers seat. Once I'm in the car and we're driving she turns the radio on low.
"Thank you for today." She said kindly.
"You're welcome. You seem to be thanking me a lot lately." I reply.
"Well, that's because you keep surprising me and doing such sweet things for me." I can almost tell she's blushing. I like her like this. Young and carefree. Vulnerable and not looking after someone else.
"I hope I get to show you more once we're out of here." I replied.
"Full of surprises aren't you?" She says sounding amused.
"It's not even the half of it." I smirk and look at her, at a red light of course. She looked at me, her cheeks still slightly pink. She smiled slightly and I couldn't help but look at her, smiling. Her eyes were such a bright hazel. I didn't notice before how bright they were. That's probably because she wasn't as relaxed and stress free before.
"Do you want to drive?" She asks shaking me out of my thoughts. I look ahead and the lights are green, I continue.
Once we're at the front of her apartment door, she opens it and stands between the threshold.
"Thank you again, Harry. It was very relaxing today." She smiles at me. Let me kiss you dammit.
"You're welcome." I reply. "I'm glad you came out with me today. Thank you." She smiles shyly at me. "I wish I could see more of that smile." I say in a soft quiet voice and she looks away blinking. "Look at me." I say softly and guide her face gently to look at me. I lean forward and kiss her cheek, lingering there for a little while. When I pull back and let my hand drop she wraps her arms around my neck and hugs me. I quickly wrap my arms around her waist and hold her close, nuzzling my face in her hair. She smells of strawberries and vanilla. As she always did. I quietly took in her scent and then she let go. When she did It felt like I was being robbed of something. I wanted her back in my arms.
"I'll see you tomorrow Harry." She smiled at me. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight." I smiled at her and she waved and closed the door. I exhaled deeply and realised my heart was beating really fast.
