"Kelsey, what's the status of everything?" I was standing on the stage envisioning how the set up will work for the intermission performance. "The costumes and set pieces have been delivered and the students are practicing in the back room."
"How long ago did you check on them?" Kelsey glanced at her watch "exactly two minutes ago." I placed a finger on my lip in thought and Kelsey continued to talk. "It's currently 3:15 and we have about 6 hours till the show starts. I started to go through my thoughts and picture where I would have the technicians place the set pieces. I walked around impatiently observing where it would be a good place to set. I placed a hand on my hips and sighed loudly in irritation. I turn around and take a breath and Kelsey looked up from the auditorium seat and tilted her head in confusion "Miss Cainwood? Is everything all right?"
"No Kelsey," I start "everything is not alright." I jab a thumb over my shoulder and start to yell . "I'M TRYING TO GET THINGS DONE AND I HAVE THESE IDIOT BOYS LYING ALL OVER THE STAGE!"
"Kate, sweetheart, calm down. You've got plenty of time to get ready." I flip around, with my blood boiling and a hot face. "Let me set something straight. My name is Kaitlin, not Kate! Second, no one calls me sweetheart!" I spat. "Alright Kaitlin," Harry says adding air quotations "whatever you say!" He adds with a wink. I wrinkle my nose in disgust and turn back to Kelsey. "Kelsey, do me a favor and get me a Hot Red Tie with skim milk and cream from Coco's." I toss her my wallet and she catches it with ease without looking away from her laptop. "Yes Miss Cainwood!" She places the laptop on the seat and slips off her heels and starts running out of the arena. "Red Tie? What's that?"
"Yeah! And what's so special about Coco's? Is that another business of yours?" I literally hear the winking in Harry's voice. "No, I don't own Coco's." I snap with a glare. "Coco's is a place where they specialize in coffee beverages without using coffee itself. A good friend of mine runs the business, she started the business when she found out that she was allergic to caffeine." The boys raised their eyebrows in confusion "without coffee? Is that even possible?" They started chattering on how coffee couldn't be made without coffee. I ignored them once again and tried to arrange in my mind where the set pieces could be placed on stage. I didn't get too far when I heard my name being yelled across the arena.
"Yoo hoo! Miss Cainwood!" A French accent rang with the bright voice along with the squeaking of shoes rubbing against the ground. I turned around to see a curly platinum blonde girl with mesmerizing green eyes running down the walkway towards the stage. "Ariel?" Without a moment to delay, she started to tumble (Not the falling tumble, the gymnastic tumble.) and started off with a summer salt. With many flips going through the air. She had to have flipped at least ten times by now, and she made a final jump and started to twirl in the air and landed perfectly on the stage. I smiled instantly I clapped my hands
"Ariel! C ètait magnifique!" She tackled me with a hug. I didn't have my mouth open, but I somehow managed to get a mouthful of her hair. "Miss Cainwood! I managed that tricky part we talked about! The um . . ." I was confused and ended up tilting my head to the side. "Yes?" I ask. She faltered off from her English and started going into French "Le double barillet." I suddenly realized what she meant and went "oh! The double barrel! Yes! You've improved very much on that flip. Very good!" I exclaim clapping my hands once again.
"Can we have an encore!! That was brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!" Louis exclaims while him and the rest of the boys applaud. Ariel looks over my shoulder and starts to blush. The boys come over and she starts to tense up and fidget nervously. "I say, is this one of your team members Kaitlin?" I place a hand on her shoulder proudly and give the boys an introduction. "This is Ariel Bellamount, she's one of my dancers and she's currently learning how to tumble for the scenes we have planned. She's also from Lyon, France." She waves hello to the boys and greets them with a shy "bonjour" and they smile. "That was wicked cool! If I did something like that, I'd have to get knee surgery again." Niall laughs. "Thank you." She blushes a bit brighter and they start to make conversation with her. I had to step in at times because she would switch to French because she didn't know how to pronounce something clearly.
"Now Ariel, just one thing I need to clarify with you on back walkover. You're supposed to end in the same position as the one you started with. Alright?" She nodded her head making her curls fly all over into her face. With a smile she gave me a hug and ran off back to practice. She was a hardworking girl I'll give her that.
"Miss Cainwood! I have your Red Tie!" Kelsey ran in with a hot beverage and what seemed to be a newspaper in the other. The dancers all looked at Kelsey running in and seemed to pay no attention that we were still stretching. She ran up to the stage and handed me my beverage. "Oh, I see you've switched clothes!" I took the drink from her hand and gulped a big swig. I switched into exercise/rehearsal clothes to give tips and advice for the team, I was currently stretching with them. I had switched into a Chemical Romance tee with a jacket wrapped around my waist, paired with running shorts and some Vans high tops.
"Miss Cainwood, just to remind you. We have four hours till show time." The team started to smile and began talking with excitement while some of them laughed nervously. "Take a chill pill everyone, I've seen how the scene is coming along and you're all doing well. I'm just going to be picky about things today that could do better." Some of them sighed and some if them smiled, who knew they could be so stressed. "Alright, we've stretched enough! Everyone get ready to start off the scene! Tumbling group I want to see you perform first!" The dancers stepped off to the side leaving the tumblers to start practicing. "In five six seven eight!" The tumblers all started off with a couple of moves and ended up going a backflip. Then they stepped up into another members hands making them do a backflip into the air. After many flips and dance moves for the next twenty seconds, I realized there was a lot of mistakes that needed to be addressed. This was going to be a long rehearsal.
