The atmosphere grew heavy and filled with suspense. The girl dashed towards Leslie shoving Simon out of the way. I'd seen a lot of death glares in my life. This expression though, was on an entirely different subject. The look she possessed scared the hell outta me.
"Leslie Mary-Ann Michelle Churchill?! What the hell have you done!" Leslie's glasses fog up at the sight of the girl. She was an attractive girl for someone really scary. She had dark brown hair that went past her shoulder blades, dark blue eyes. She wore a black blazer and a ruffled blue blouse with tan skinny jeans and white heels, strangest part about her was she didn't have an accent. She must be American.
"Miss Cainwood?! How! What! Where-" she slammed her hands down on the desk so powerfully that all the stuff on the desk bounced. Just viewing how powerful the slam was painful to the eye.
"Leslie! You've gone and screwed everything up! I never should have trusted you!" She pointed a finger at her while Leslie tried to wipe off the fog from her glasses.
"M-Miss Cainwood, I-I can explain it wasn't my fault! I did all the paperwork correctly! The bank is at fault!" She exclaimed. The girl sighed and shook her head. "Leslie, this is by far the biggest mistake you've ever made! Having to sleep overnight in the Tokyo Airpot, because you forgot to buy the tickets to come back to London, was a real pain in my arse! But this is an entirely different subject!"
She raises her hands in the air in complete defeat. Leslie looks as if she just lost a child. "M-Miss Cainwood, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean for this to happen! I checked all the paperwork! Twice! I did everything to make sure the tours weren't combined! The bank must've mistook that you wanted a combined tour instead of separate tours." The girl opened her mouth ready to slam another pile of insults at her when Simon stopped her.
"Excuse me, but who the bloody hell are you?" Simon jabs a finger in the girls shoulder and he's greeted with a glare. "Might I ask the same thing?" She jabs a finger into his chest and his eyes widen. "You don't know me?" She scoffs and shakes her head "Should I?"
"Do you watch the X-Factor?" She laughs hysterically
"Those singing shows? Bafah! They're a joke, they always choose the people with the worst singing voices instead of the ones that actually have talent." Simon's face grows red and he yells at her
"Excuse you, but I'm Simon Cowell, and you need to show a little bit more respect to me!" She rolls her eyes. This girl was asking for it.
"I've got a bad feeling about this." Niall whispers and we all nodded in agreement. "$13 pounds that Simon will get slapped." Liam suggested
"yeah right, Simon's totally gonna make her cry." Louis scoffed. "Your on." Liam said fist bumping Louis.
"I suggest you apologize! I'm a well respected man and you, are acting like you're the Queen of England!" She stays perfectly calm as Simon continues to tell at her. I looked over at Leslie, she was flailing her arms and gesturing to stop us. The look she had was something of pure terror. I was confused. Was she trying to tell us to stop Simon? What was going on?
The girl cleared her throat and stared at Simon. The room grew silent, and the air intensified something was going to happen and I don't think I was going to like it. "Excuse me?! But do you know who I am?" She suddenly slapped Simon's across the face, with an audible gasp coming from me and the boys she grabbed him by the collar and brought his face close to hers. A bright red handprint was plastered on his face, causing Harry to chuckle in amazement. "You owe me 13 pounds Louis." Louis swore under his breath and sighed in disappointment.
"I'm Kaitlin Cainwood! The CEO of Cainwood Enterprises and Headmaster of Golden Hope Academy! So I suggest you show some respect to me you arse!" All of our eyes widened at her sudden deceleration. This girl was Kaitlin Cainwood?! I'd imagined she was older, not a girl who was my age. Simon stayed quiet with his mouth hung open. She released him and shoved him out of the way. I made eye contact with her and she gasped. She suddenly took a look at us and wrinkled her nose in disgust. "You!" She made eye contact with Simon and pointed a finger at him. "You're the manager of these idiots?!"
"Excuse me?! That hurts!" Louis declared. She rolled her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose. "I knew your name sounded familiar. You're the manager of these boys."
"N-now now! Let's not get feisty here Mr. Cowell and Miss Cainwood! Let's just talk this out and see what the options are! I'm sure we can work something out!" Kaitlin and Simon glared at each other. Simon have his approval with a nod while Kaitlin groaned in disagreement. This appointment was going to be longer than I thought it be.
Inconceivable! I couldn't believe this was happening. I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. To think that I was actually trusting Leslie, that she could make this work without making a mistake. I sat next to Simon Cowell and avoided eye contact. My first impression of him? I didn't like him. He got everything he wanted because he was a celebrity. I disliked him even more since he was the manager of One Direction. Leslie looked at both of us with a worried look in her face. With a sigh she took of her glasses and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Well, here are our options. We can either reschedule one of your tours to perform this year or the next or you can combine tours and learn to enjoy each other's company."
"How about withdrawing my money?" I ask. Leslie shakes her head "The bank won't allow me to do that." I sigh and shake my head. That means quitting was out of the question. Simon turned to me and smiles "Miss Cainwood, I'd like to apologize for my behavior. I realized I was out of line for treating a lovely young girl like you with disrespect." I didn't respond to him, then again, I didn't know how to respond. I knew he wanted to combine the tour. The look in his eye said everything.
"What do you want Simon?"
"How about we combine tours?" I hold back a laugh. Me and him? Combine tours? Who did he think I was? I wasn't looking for attention! "This could be a great way to sponsor your school and their talents! You could receive more students to your school!"
"Mr. Cowell," I began "I am not looking for attention and more students. I am looking for a reasonable tour that allows my hardest working students to be rewarded with a one in a lifetime opportunity to show off their talents."
"But this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! They'll be able to perform with the biggest boy band sensation right now!" He argued. I scoffed at his point and shook my head. "Yes, you do have an excellent point but-"
"But what? What're you so afraid of?" The grin on my face fades away and I looked at him with a serious look in my eye. "If I did that, all those so called "fans" wouldn't care for my students performing. All those audience members care about is seeing your boys being on stage and looking attractive. They would doze off and wouldn't give a crap about my tour team."
"Leslie. Where are the registration forms for next year? I'm going to have to cancel the tour this year and do it next year." Leslie reaches inside the desk drawer and pulls out a light blue paper and hands it to me. "Just sign here.... here ... here ... and here and the bottom and you'll be good to go." She says quietly handing me a pen. The pen was about to make contact with the paper when Kelsey came running in with a cup of hot chocolate, a bag of food, and bewildered look on her face. "Miss Cainwood! I'm here!" She handed the cup of hot chocolate to me and gasped for breath.
I eyed the hot beverage and looked at her. "Kelsey? You ran to Coco's? Are they not serving lunch?" She breathed heavily placing her hands on top of her knees. "I... I knew... You would say... That." She thrusted a bag of food in front of me. "I got you ... a Fruit Salad from Ziloufs. It took a while... but I finally got you lunch..." I take the bag of food from her and thank her. After catching her breath she stands up straight with a smile. "Miss Cainwood! I'm so glad that you're getting along with the marvelous One Direction and fantastic Simon Cowell! I thought a fight was going to-" Kelsey stops mid-sentence and stays quiet. Confused, I tiled my head "Kelsey? Are you alright?" She didn't respond to my question, instead she rubbed her eyes and looked in the direction of Simon and the boys. After staring at them for a bit, they all waved at her and smiled. "Hello there! We're One Direction!" They said in harmony. At that point Kelsey screamed at the top of her lungs "OH MY LORD!! IT'S THEM!" she backed into the wall, eventually falling down to the floor in complete shock. I groaned shaking my head as she started to freak out.
"Miss Cainwood! The tour was combined with them? But how?" As she started to ramble, I started to eat my food and let her ramble. Kelsey looked like one of those cartoon robots that started to malfunction. I didn't care, I decided it would be best if she got it in her head that we're in the same room as them. At one point Simon leaned over to me and whispered in my ear. "Who is that? Is she alright?" I nodded taking a sip from my Hot Chocolate. "That is Kelsey, my personal assistant. She's also a big fans of yours."
"Is she going to calm down soon?"
"Kelsey!" She stops her rambling and looks to me where she's sitting. She suddenly turns beet red and covers her face. "Yes, Miss Cainwood?" She answers muffled by her hands. "How about you introduce yourself quietly and more professionally instead of making a fool out of yourself?" I suggest. She stands up, brushes off the front of her skirt, smoothed her hair and takes a breath. She puts on her biggest smile and greets the boys and Simon. "Hello! It's such an honor to meet you all! I'm very big fans of both One Direction and Mr. Cowell." I roll my eyes and stuff another bite of my fruit salad in my mouth. The boys say hello again along with Simon and she blushes. She turns to me and eyes the blue paper in my hand. "Miss Cainwood? What is that paper?"
"A paper that will allow me to cancel this year's tour and let me do it next year." Kelsey's eyes bulged and she grabbed the paper from my hand and tore it up. "Kelsey!" I stand up only to be sat back down by my own assistant. "You can't be serious, Miss Cainwood!" I sigh and shake my head. "Kelsey..." I say with a wary tone.
She bends to my level and starts to whisper in my ear "Miss Cainwood! You need to combine tours with them!" I choke on my food and start to cough. Keeping my mouth covered, I drink down some hot chocolate to clear my throat. I look at her with disbelief and shake my head. What kind of answer was that?! There was no way that I was combining tours with these idiots. I couldn't believe she was actually telling me this. "Kelsey! Are you out of your mind! I'm not combining with them because you want-" she pushed a finger to my mouth and shushed me. "I'm not doing this because of me!" She snapped, she pulled out her phone and brought up her pictures. She shoved the phone into my face and I viewed the picture. It was the students that I chose to go on tour.
"These students have worked their hardest! And your just going to reschedule it for next year? Think of how sad they'll be! They'll feel like they worked for nothing!" I opened my mouth only to be shushed again. "No! I'm not finished!" She hissed. "These students are major fans of these guys! Just think how excited they'll be once they hear we're going on tour with these guys! They'll work twice as harder to prove that they deserve to go on this tour!" My eyes widened at her theory. She did have a point, I wanted to make sure that my students would have as much fun as possible. I wanted to show my students that if they worked hard enough they could get anywhere in life, and the students that I chose, already performed that. With a sigh I look over to Leslie. "Leslie, how much is it to combine the tours." Simon's mouth dropped and the boys gasped. Kelsey fist bumped the air and Leslie looked as if she had seen someone rise back from the dead. "W-what did you say?" She stuttered.
"Miss Cainwood... You don't mean?" With a nod of my head I answer Simon's question. "I'll do the combined tour." The boys stood up as started hugging each other. Simon offered me a hand and we shook on it. The blonde haired boy tackled me with a hug. I was going to push him away until I saw the huge grin on his face "thank you so much! It's always been a dream of mine to perform with Golden Hope Academy! It's made my day even better since I met the Headmaster of the school!" He laughed and I didn't know what to say. I wanted to reject his comment and say that he was being a kiss up. But in those blue eyes, I could tell that he was being sincere and really meant what he said. Perhaps combining tours wasn't so bad, for now at least.
I apologize on how long it took for the update! Things have gotten busier as my vacation comes closer! Anyway! Hope you enjoyed it!
