10. Giving In
"Lu, come on!" Zayn called from the ground. I had been keeping away from them for hours now, flying just out of reach of Iron girl and landing when it was at all possible to rest my wings. "Why should I?" I asked, knowing that I wasn't about to give up without having a dang good reason. "Because we need to talk... Just you and me." I looked down and no one else was there. they were all about one hundred meters away, trying to give us some room. "How do I know it's not a trap?" I asked, hesitant to come down. "What reason would I have for tricking you now?" He asked, a small glitter in his eyes. I slowly descended and landed next to him. "See? Isn't that better?" He asked as I let my wings fall on the floor. "Yea, I guess. So, What did you want to talk about?" I asked as he looked over at the others who nodded and began to walk farther away. "Just stuff... like how you got this way... A demon shape-shifter..." I looked at him, shocked. "How did you--" He held up his hand and smiled. "I just do. I'm good about those kinds of things. So are your parents really--" I interrupted him this time. "Yes, they're really dead. The fire that killed them was set by a demon before I became one. He felt remorse and came to find me dead in the middle of the woods, so he gave me his demonic heart to bring me back. It gave me all these abilities and I was afraid at first, but he helped teach me and keep me safe while I was in training. He lived three days without his heart... It was his last 'job' to kill me in that fire, but I managed to jump out a window and escape..." He looked at me with melancholy eyes and touched my hand. "But your family didn't?" I shook my head and sat down, weary from all of the flying and now these emotions. "So, is that why you turned for the worst?" Zayn asked, his eyes flashing a quick look to the left, and the sound of footsteps was now audible. "Yea... I just wanted to pay the world back for what it did to me... And tell them that if they come as much as one step closer, I'll attack." The footsteps stopped and I stood up through my exhaustion, folding my wings and turning to face them. "You look shocked..." I said as casually as I could. "We are a little shocked that something so primitive as a demon could hear us." Said Harry. I unfurled my sore wings and growled, making a point to direct it at Harry. "If I am so primitive as you say, do you wish to fight me?" I asked, taking a sword from its scabbard on the wall nearby. "If you promise to change back into a human and stay that way, I would be delighted..." I smiled and changed into a human, where I looked less scary, but had the same strength. "Well then, let's get started, shall we?"
