3. Starting At Hogwarts
I wore Professor McGonagall's niece’s clothes for my first day at Hogwarts. They were alright I guess at least they weren't embarrassing. I've already done embarrassing, wedding dress and I hope I don't have to walk through anywhere in it anytime soon.
Before I was allowed to start classes I had to be sorted in front of the whole school at breakfast. Just great, know they will think that bride-zilla is going to go to school with them. Professor McGonagall was very helpful though she showed me where my classes would be and then finally showed me the great hall. I must admit it was better than what I had read. There is nothing like experiencing Hogwarts first hand in the actual book. Everything was more magical and magnificent than the book and the movies. The enchanted ceiling that looks like the sky was even more sophisticated than anything else I'd ever seen.
Professor McGonagall directed me to a stool in front of the whole school. I could feel the tension in the room which didn't make me any less nervous. She placed the sorting hat on my head.
"Ah! A world jumper, very interesting. Very interesting, lots of courage I see and a great mind. Very advanced. Better be Ravenclaw!" The sorting hat boomed. Oh my god what a relief at least I'm not in Slytherin. I got up and walked over to the Ravenclaw's table, decorated with blue and bronze banners with an eagle in the middle.
I must admit I didn't think I would get into this house; I'd never done any magic before. Professor Dumbledore put me straight into the seventh year’s classes.
"Welcome to Ravenclaw." Said the head of Ravenclaw. "I'm Felix Herzin head of Ravenclaw."
"Nice to meet you, I am Jade Casey." I shook his hand then sat down.
"Why did you get to enrol so late in Hogwarts?" Felix asked.
"I have a cursed book that said I should have some fun while I'm here. It's really weird in my world; I didn't know we had magic. I know that I am wrong now since I got transported into the Wizarding world." I answered.
"Are you saying that you have a cursed book that transported you here? It could be a portkey."
"I don't think so where I came from this world here is just an extremely popular story. I can't even manage to get rid of it. The damn book always comes back." Food appeared on the long tables. It looked so delicious I wanted to dig in straight away but everyone seemed to be waiting for something. Professor Dumbledore raised his hand and everyone went silent.
"I would like to offer a very warm welcome to our new student Jade Casey. Congratulations on making Ravenclaw and I hope you enjoy your time with us here at Hogwarts. I have one notice for today. There is a Quidditch match after class today, Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. That is all." He sat down and everyone started eating. It was the best breakfast I had ever had, that was saying something since I had been too many five star restaurants with Zac.
After breakfast in the great hall was finished, Felix showed me Ravenclaw tower. He got Luca Lovegood to show me where I would be staying while I was here. I was surprised to see that Hagrid had already gotten all my stuff for school. There was a note on the top, "We will get you a proper wand after school. Please go to Dumbledore's office after school and he will take you to get a wand." There was a wand in the stuff from Diagonalley, I picked it up but it didn't feel right for me.
"I'll let you get changed," Luna said heading towards the door.
"Can you please show me where my first class is after I get changed?" I asked.
"Sure I can," she smiled.
After I had changed into my robes, Luna showed me where potions was. She even pointed out a few others on the way. The only thing weird was when I was putting on my robes; I saw something on my arm. I looked like some kind of tattoo, but it was a mark that was starting to disappear. It said Harry Potter, but part of the 'H' was gone. I guess I can ask Dumbledore after school.
Going to potions was fun I really enjoyed it. Two other from Ravenclaw helped me out with it and showed me what was what and what their properties were. Their names are Phoebe and Christopher. I remembered almost everything they told me. I guess that is one of the reasons why I was put in Ravenclaw. I love books; they have been my only friends since high school. Besides the few boyfriends I've had.
I stuck to Phoebe and Christopher as much as I could which was easy, because a least one of was in each of my classes. After that I was sure I could remember where all my classes were. It was great. I spent all my free time with others in my house reading books and practising spells so I could catch up with everyone else. I was pretty good I must admit I almost knew all first and second year spells by the end of the day. But that was after Dumbledore took me to Diagonalley and after watching the Quidditch.
Dumbledore took me into Diagonalley and I bought a wand. Walnut and unicorn hair, twelve and quarter inches unyielding, well that's what Ollivander said that wand was. It didn't really take me long to find a suitable wand, I only had to try a few. Dumbledore let me get some clothes to wear and even a small handbag.
"Professor, can I ask you something?" I asked.
"Of course, Miss Casey." Professor Dumbledore replied.
I rolled up my sleeve The 'H' was gone now. "I saw this, this morning. It wasn't there before. What do you think it means?"
He looked down at the tattoo. "Hmm, very odd. Was there an 'H' there before?"
"Yes, the 'H' just disappeared today."
"This could mean many things but one I think would be more suitable than the others. I think it indicates how long you will be staying with us. That would mean you would only have eleven days here. I do not know how accurate it is but it is something to go on." I nodded in response. He held my arm and apparated us back to Hogwarts. He walked with me to Quidditch then headed off to the teachers grand stand. I with over and joined the Ravenclaw grand stand. They were all cheering for Gryffindor, not that I thought they would cheer for Slytherin.
The Quidditch match was great. Gryffindor won but Slytherin had injured two players in the process. I wanted to learn how to fly but it seemed like a bit much just yet since I had only just started at Hogwarts.
After Quidditch some girls in Ravenclaw helped me put an undetectable extension charm on my new handbag. I no longer had to carry the cursed book in my hands or anything else. I did this when they were teaching me common spells from first year and onwards. By the time I was finished with learning as many spells as I could before it was time to do homework. It was pretty easy even though it was year seven work. I got all my homework done and managed to learn a few more spells before bed.
It was the best day I have had in the last two years. I think I like this book after all, it did just get me to Hogwarts. There couldn't be anything better than being where I am now. Except maybe back home with my parents and even Zac. I should sound more happy about Zac, but honestly I am he is the only one who I can spend my life with. I am sure it, there can't be anyone else. They are all gone and off with some else. At least I am not alone here for once, but it still didn't fill the hole in my heart. It always feels as if something is missing.
