I was becoming very worried about Thomas and my pregnancy hormones weren't helping. I would cry myself to sleep every night missing him.
I was due in just seven weeks and I was very nervous. I had heard the screams of labor pains in health class videos during high school and they are not something you can forget easily.
The nurses had seen what gender the baby was but I had refused. I wanted it to be a surprise.
I haven't heard from Thomas in almost six months but I haven't received any letters from the army people about him being lost or dead. So I just kept up hope that he was alive and well.
I had stopped writing Thomas letters because I felt like I might have been annoying him with my pointless yammering about what I was wearing that day or when I felt the baby kicked.
I haven't talked to anybody about my feelings and worries except for my very kind boss Caleb O'Darrin.
Every afternoon during my lunch break we would walk down to the Starbucks across the street, sit outside and just talk.
Caleb could make me laugh like no other. He was a great listener and it was so easy to just pour my heart out to him.
But I didn't love him. That would be crazy. Besides my heart still belongs to Thomas.
"I have another joke for you" Caleb told me as we walked.
"It better not be another knock knock joke! If it is I will punch you." I replied with a laugh.
"Don't worry it isn't. Okay are you ready?"
"CALEB! I told you know more knock knock jokes!" I yelled and playfully punched his shoulder.
"Say who's there." He smirked.
I giggled. "Who's there".
"Madam foot's stuck in the door again!"
He howled with laughter and I giggled. I knew it wasn't that funny but it was so bad that it was funny. Plus his laugh was so cute.
We were chuckling to ourselves as we walked into the Starbucks. He already knew my order so he stood in line as I went outside to sit at our usual place.
Then I felt it. I looked down and my pants were soaked!
"Caleb!" I screamed. He came running out.
"What's the matter!?"
"My water broke! I'm going into labor!"
