12. Jumped

The rest of the day goes by fast. I am still pondering over the kiss. I don't understand boys. Daisy tells me what I need for each class. Math is paper and a folder, gym is nothing, Reading is a binder, a notebook, and some paper, Social Studies is a folder, and a notebook, and Science is a folder and paper. I still have a lot of extra supplies. It turns out that Mathew has every class with me including my extra classes which are reading and math. Yay.

I hear the bell ring signaling the end of the day. I walk quickly back to my locker. I cant wait to get out of hear. I hear someone following, but I don't bother to see who it is. Its just Daisy going to her locker. I'm surprised she hasn't said anything. My locker is the furthest from the classroom so a lot of the students have already left. I finally reach my locker and shove my stuff in it.

"I thought you were going straight home Daisy. I saw you with your book bag," I say without looking at her.

"Uhhh..." I hear a voice, but it does not sound like Daisy or even Mathew. I turn my head and see an unfamiliar face. The boy has black hair and green eyes. I have never seen this boy in my life.

               "Can I help you?"

"Actually yeah," he smirks and walks forward. Oh no. This is even worse than with Mathew I mean yeah I was mad at him, but it was different. I knew he wasn't going to do anything serious. Just then I realize this time everyone is leaving. Even the cameras aren't going to help me now. I start to panic. I look around searching for something, anything that could help me. I see a mop against the other wall, but I cant reach it without walking to it. Oh well what do I have to loose.

I lunge forward. I am a step away from grabbing it. I feel hands grab my hair and yank me back. I loose my balance, but the boy catches me and shoves me against the lockers. I gasp as my head slams against it. So much for what I have to loose. My vision starts to go black as he shoves his lips against mine. 2 times in one day? God I need to get out of hear. I bring my knee up and he groan. He pulls away from my face and I use this as an opportunity. I bring my head forward causing my vision to go black completely, but I feel myself slump to the floor so he finally let me go. My vision returns a minute later. My head is throbbing, but I'm relieved to see he his holding his nose. Hopefully I broke something. I stand up again and start to run. He grabs my shirt and rips me back.

"You shouldn't have done that," he growls.

He shoves me against the lockers again, but this time he slaps me. What the heck does this guy want? I groan. My head is spinning now. I feel like the world is turning sideways and for some odd reason I see someone walking down the hallway toward us... fast. I must be unconscious. No one is there. The mad kisses me again, but then he's shoved to the ground by someone. I hear screaming, but I don't hear what is being said. With him not pressing me against the lockers I am unable to hold myself up so I slump to the floor. I lay there with my eyes closed. Now I can sleep. The angry man stopped the guy that jumped me. I slowly drift away into darkness and I am glad. I can finally escape this place.

I groan. My face hurts. Bad. I can vaguely remember some guy jumping me in the hall. I hear 2 voices talking. A boy and a girl. I put a hand to my head and a feel a bruise wear on my cheekbone. I notice someone at the end of my bed. The boy. He has blonde hair and he's wearing a blue shirt with tan shorts. Hmmmm... he seems familiar. I also see a women wearing white. She must be a nurse. That makes sense I was attacked to I had to go to the nurses office, but who brought me hear? Then I know. The blonde hair and that outfit. Mathew. Why is he hear? Oh my god he was the man I saw in the hall. So I didn't imagine that?

"Look she got jumped in the hall. I think he knocked her out. I'm not sure. All I know was I saw her pressed up against the lockers and him hitting and kissing her. I didn't see the whole thing, only the end," he sounds tired. Like he's been answering a lot of questions.

"So who did you saw this boy was?" she asks.

"Bradly. I don't know his last name. He has black hair, he's sorta tall," he shrugs. "I don't care who he is. He better pay for what he did. She just moved here and she's already getting jumped in the hallways," he answers anger clear in his voice. Huh funny coming from him. He half jumped me in the hall. But then again he stopped. HE only kissed me. He didn't slap me and knock me out.

"This is a serious offence. Are you sure they weren't just kissing and maybe she bumped her head?" Seriously?! Who the heck gets knocked out by bumping their freaking head. Plus what about the bruise on my chin. Yeah I suppose I just happened to bump my cheek? Real likely. This nurse is an idiot.

"Are you serious? I saw him hit her! Plus I think I would know when someone WANTS to kiss the other person. She deffinetly did NOT want to kiss him," he yells.

"Okay, okay don't yell. I'm just making sure. I'll have to talk to her about it when she wakes up though," she finally looks over at me and her eyes go wide she sees I'm awake. Mathew looks back at me. I half expect him to look embarrassed by being here, but I only see worry.

"How do you feel," he asks before the nurse can.

"My head hurts. A lot," I smile a little, but wince from the bruise on my cheek. I bring my hand up to my cheek and feel the tender skin.

"I need you tell me exactly what happened," the nurse says.

"She just woke up. Shouldn't you check to see if she has a concusion or something. He slammed her pretty hard against the locker." I wrinkle my nose at the memory of hitting my head against the locker.

"I already checked. She's fine," she says clearly annoyed. "So explain." Man this nurse is demanding.

"Well I don't remember exactly what happened, but I'll tell you what I do remember. I was walking to my locker and I heard someone following me, but I figured it was my friend Daisy so I didn't think any of it. When I got to my locker I saw it wasn't Daisy so I started to freak out. I tried to get this mop to fight him, but he stopped me and threw me against the locker. When he kissed me I kneed him and head butted him. At that point I was halfway unconscious. I tried to run, but he stopped me again and smacked. I'm pretty sure that's when I started to pass out. I think he kissed me again and that's when Mathew... I don't know what he did. I couldn't see anything," Mathew's face is horror struck. The nurse looks like she might puke.

"Wow um... okay y-you can go now."

I sit up, but I cant see straight. My head is still spinning. "How did I get here?"

"I carried you here," Mathew admits.

"Oh. Look I cant see straight. Just go. I'm not going to be able to walk for a little while," I shake my head which cause my vision go even blurrier.

"No I'll help you back to your room."

The nurse rights some stuff down on a clip board and walks in another room. "That's okay really you don't have to help me."

"Like I said I'll help you back to your room," he smiles and walks to me. He wraps an arm around me and pulls me up. I gasp. "Oh its fine," he says when he notices my surprised face.

He helps me walk with his arm around my waist for a little bit, but then full on carries when I start to stumble over my own feet. He carries me with no difficulty. I am to relieved to complain. "You look like crap Kara," he teases.

"That makes me feel so much better," I say sarcastically.

"I'm joking. Are you sure your okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine. Thank you," I whisper.

"Its fine. I couldn't let him do that to you," he whispers back.

                     "You kissed me too."

"Yeah. I guess I felt bad for doing that so... I had to make it up to you," he sighs.

"Why? Why are you being so nice to me?"

"I told you. I felt bad."

                     "Is that it?"

"Yes," his voice is strained. I think he's lying, but I don't say so.

He opens the door to my room and walks in. "Which one is your bed?"

                     "The right."

He sets me down on the bed gently and walks back to the door. He looks back at me and smiles. "Goodnight Kara," he laughs a little and walks out. I was going to sleep, but that isn't the weird thing. That is the exact same thing that Josh said the night of the party. That is just one more thing that I am left to ponder over about Mathew.
