15. A Special Visit

"Who your partner for the baby project?"

                I smile shyly, "Mathew."

"Yes! Yes, yes, yes! That is awesome!"

"I think you're forgetting I have a boyfriend all ready. I don't like him like that. I guess were sorta friends. I don't know."

"I know you have a boyfriend. I'm not saying you have to like him, but I think he likes you," she smiles.

"Well it doesn't matter. All that matters is you have a "baby" with him and he chose you!" she sings.

"Stop it!" I push her and we laugh. I roll back on my bed and lean on my side so I am looking at her.

Just then I hear a knock on the door. Its not 8 so its not the security. I walk over and open. I'm expecting to see Mathew, but that is not who I see. I stare in shock. I'm speechless. I stare wide eyed at her. "Christina!" I gasp.

She throws her arms around me and holds me to her tightly. "Hey."

"What are you doing here? How did you get in here?"

"I told'em I was your cousin and I was coming to see you. So they told me your room number and I found my way here. Oh my god your cheek!" she hold my head in between her hands and looks my face down intently.

"I told you I got jumped. So why are you hear?"

"I came to see you and take you out to eat."

"Well we don't have long. What time is?"

                "Around 7. Why?"

"I have to be in my room by 8 cause security come and check the rooms. Oh and this Daisy," I wave my arms to Daisy and she smiles with red cheeks.

                "Hey," she says.

"Hi I'm Christina." They shake hands. "Keep her safe will you?"

                "I'll try my best."

"Well then come on Kara. Lets go eat," she pulls me toward the door.

"By Daisy," I call as we walk down the hall. "You're the best," I smile at her.

"Yeah I know." We reach her car just as the sun is setting. We get in and drive off.

                "Where are we going?"

                "I don't know what it's called."

"Do you know why Josh has been ignoring my calls?"

"No. I doubt he's ignoring you. His parents probably have his phone so he cant talk to you." I didn't even think of that.

                "You're probably right."

"Okay we're almost here. By the way you look really good In that outfit," I smile at the memory of Mathew saying something similar.

We pull in a parking lot packed with cars. I see a huge building and from the light I see chandalers hanging from the ceiling. Fancy. We get out and walk in. There is a waiting time of 15 minutes. We sit on the floor as we wait. About 11 minutes later they call a table for 2 and we stand up. "Follow me," the waiter says. We walk to a table right under a chandaler. It puts off a warm glow against the table. We take a seat across from each other. "What would you like to drink?"

"Uhhh... I'll have a coke," I tell her.

"Yeah I'll have a coke too."

"Well I am Roxy and I will be your server tonight. I'll be back in a minute to take your order," she smiles and walks away.

"And your going to pay for this?"

"Yeah my parents gave me a hundred to come and see you."

                 "Wow," I'm shocked. 100 dollars?

"So I guess I'm going to get that fancy chicken and those fancy mashed potaoes," she points to a meal. 15 dollars! Geez. I scan the other meals, but 15 is probabaly closet to the cheapest.

                 "Same here."

The waiter comes back a minute later and Christina tells her what we want. "It'll be about a 10 minute wait.' The waiter walks away again.

                 "Have you ever ate here?"

"No, I chose it randomly. I mean I wasn't going to take you someplace like McDonalds," she jokes.

"It would have been better than nothing. Does my dad know you came here?" I asked suddenly curious.

                 'What about Josh?"

"No. If he knew he would be here and if he was here I wouldn't have been able to get you out cause your dad wouldn't have let me. Plus I don't have his number."

"Do you wish he would have came and got you instead of me?"

"Of course not! You're my best friend Christina," I demand.

"I know you just looked so sad when I told you Josh didn't know," she shrugs her shoulders. "So I thought maybe-"

"Well you thought wrong," I snap. "Sorry, I'm being mean," I apologize.

"It's fine. So tell me. How are you?"

                 "I'm fine."

                 "Really how are you?"

"I'm fine really. Nothing happened at school today and my head is feeling better."

                 "Anything new with Mathew?"

"We have a fake "baby" to take care of. He got the first night."

"See you guys already have a kid together," she teases.

"Yep and electronic baby," I roll my eyes.

"You know you don't have to date Josh."

                 "Yeah, but I want to."

"Well you sure have a way of showing it. You get all shy when you talk about Mathew and your face always gets red. I think you have a crush. Even if its a teeny tiny one," she holds up her fingers just millimeters apart.

Just then the waiter comes with our food. She sets it down and says, "enjoy." Me and Christina dig in. Everyone else around us is taking slow, small bites and here we are shoving our mouths with huge portions of chicken and mashed potatoes. We get a few stares, but I don't care. The schools food taste nothing compared this. We finish in less than 10  minutes, but this meal is one of the largest I have ever had. I swallow my last bight and see that Christina is finishing hers. I sit there for a minute letting my stomach settle. Christina pulls out her phone and her eyes go wide.

"What time to do you have to be home?"

                 "8 why?"
"Cause its 7:50," she purses her lips. "If we leave now and you run we should be able to make it."

"Then lets go." Christina sets 50 dollars at the table, because we haven't got the check and we don't want the cops to be called. This way we also leave a tip.

We sprint out of the restaurant and jump in her car. She speeds down the road. I keep my eyes on the clock as the time passes. 7:51, 7:52, 7:53, 7:54, 7:55, 7:56, 7:57. We pull in the long driveway that leads to the rooms, the store, and the school. She stops in front of my building and I hop out of the car. "Thank you Christina. I'll talk to you later. Come visit again sometime."
"See ya!" she smiles and smile back. Then I run to my building.

I run inside, up the stairs, down the hall, and to my room. I rush in and catch my breath. I'm panting hard. Daisy is laying on her bed watching t.v. "Did they already check?" I ask between breaths.

"Yeah. I told'em you were in the bathroom."

                   "Thank you."

"Someone stopped by to see you," she smiles deviously.

                   "Really who?"

                   "Oh you know a guy."

                   "Mathew? What did he want?"

"He wanted to know where you were and if you could take the "baby."

"Well... I'm gonna take a shower. Is it okay if I use your hair stuff?"

                   "I don't care."

I walk to the bathroom, but then I remember I need to pick out clothes. I walk to my closet and grab my fuzzy pants and a gray tank top. I take them to the bathroom and set them on the sink. I undress and turn on the shower. I wash my hair and use some soap to wash off my body. When I am done I step out and dry off with a white towel. I put my night clothes on and walk back out in the room. Daisy is asleep. I clap the lights off and plug my phone in. I turn off the t.v and slide under my blankets. I roll on my left side and shut my eyes. I wonder if Christina is home yet. Probably. I fall asleep thinking of her and her special visit.

Sorry guys. This chapter wasn't very exciting. I was trying to skip over some details so it wouldn't be so boring, but I don't know if that worked. The next chapter will be better. I promise. Okay well that's it. Thank you guys for reading it though!!!
