10. *Chapter 8*

After class I went to get my algebra book out of my locker. I opened and the girl from earlier came up and slammed it shut.

“Can I help you?” I asked her opening my locker again.

“Stay away from Jake.” she said getting close to me.

“Not that it's any of your business, but Jake and I don't talk.” I said getting my books.

“Save it. I know you like him and you're going to stay away from him.”

“Like I said, it's none of your business if I talk to Jake.” I said walking away from her.

She followed me, “It is my business. We're dating.”

“I doubt that. Why haven't I heard about it?” I asked.

“We're on and off, but the point is, he's still basically my boyfriend, your're just a rebound.” she said stopping me.

“If I wanna talk to Jake I will and I'm not gonna be scared by you.” I said pushing her off of me.

“You should just leave no one wants you here and your bastard baby.” she said.

That hit home. I punched her as hard as I could right in her big nose, I went to hit her again, but Jake grabbed me and pulled me away.

“Amy, just stay away from her from now on.” he said as he pulled me away from there.

“Get your hands off me.” I said pushing him off me.

“Look, I know what Sean told you, but it's not like that anymore. I really like you and I want to raise this baby with you.” he said.

“I'm not dating a guy who bangs almost every girl in school.” I said walking away.

He followed me, “If you're talking about Amy, I only slept with her once and she just won't get over it.”

“I don't care about Amy. I can't take care of a baby with a guy like you.” I said.

“I'm a really good guy. If you would just give me a chance.” he said.

“No. We are giving it up for adoption, end of story.” I said walking into the algebra room.

“I can't believe she said that to you. She's lucky I wasn't there.” said Jenna as we walked out to the car.

“Oh please, what would you have done?” I asked rolling my eyes.

“Give her a good butt kicking.” she said.

“It's fine. I hit her pretty hard.” I said.

“You're lucky you didn't get turned in.”

“Yeah, I thought for sure I would.”

“It's a good thing you didn't, that would look pretty bad on your record.”

“I'm going to have to try not to lose my temper again.” I said as we got to the car.

“Hey, you ready to go?” asked Sean waiting for us.

“Yeah, let's go.” I said getting in the front.

“I heard you punched a girl.” he said.

“Yeah, she was getting all up in my face about Jake.” I said.

    “What about?” he asked.

“Apparently they slept together and she can't let it go.” I said rolling my eyes.

“I told you he was a jerk.” said Sean pulling out.

“I know. I just wished I had realized that before.” I said.

“It's not you fault he took advantage of you.” he said getting angry.

“It was still my choice, I didn't have to go upstairs with him, but I did and what's done is done.”

“Why are you defending him?” he asked.

“I'm not. I'm just saying he didn't force me to do anything I didn't want to do.” I said rubbing my stomach. I found it very relaxing.

“Don't worry about Amy. She's just jealous that he likes you.” said Jenna.

“He doesn't like me. The only reason he wants to hang around me is because I'm pregnant.” I said.

“At least he's trying. Just give him a chance to prove himself.” said Jenna.

“I still think he's a jerk, but I'll still support you in whatever you decide.” said Sean as we pulled into Jenna's driveway.

“I'll see you both later.” said Jenna getting out.

Maybe I would give Jake another chance.

I decided to call Jake when Sean and I got home. First I went to the kitchen and got some cookies out of the cabinet.

“How are you feeling?” asked my mom.

    “I'm fine.” I said.

“What time to I need to drop you off at the Nelson's?” asked my mom.

“They said dinner would be ready by six, so about five minutes before.” I said.

“Alright then.” she said going to sit in the living room. I followed her.

“I was thinking about asking Jake to come.” I said as she sat down.

“Are you sure that's a good idea?” asked my mom.

“It's his baby too. He should know who'll be taking care of it.”

“If you think that's best then alright.” said my mom.

I made one more mistake that night.

My phone started buzzing as I came back to the real world.

    It was Paige.

She wanted to know when I'd be back. I told her in five minutes. I got up and walked back to my car and headed to school.
