“Ellie, wait up.” said Paige as I was leaving class.
“Hey.” I said.
“What is going on with you, you seem pretty out of it.”
“I'm fine, Paige.” I said.
“Are you sure?” she asked.
“Yeah. I gotta get to second period.” I said and walked off.
When I got to second period I saw I had it with Jenna. I walked to the otherside of the room, so I wouldn't have to talk to her. I looked over and glared at her, she looked at me with this sort of sadness in her eyes. What happened with me and Jenna happened when I was way up into my pregnancy. I'm not at that point quite yet.
My mom and I were sitting in the living room watching t.v when Sean finally came home.
“Where have you been? You missed dinner.” said my mom getting out of her chair.
“At a friends house.” he said heading to his room without looking at me.
“You know the rules about not missing supper.” she said.
He didn't say anything just kept walking up the stairs to his room.
“I'm sorry, Mom.” I said.
“Don't worry, he'll get over it.” she said sitting down.
“I don't think so.” I said.
“Just give him sometime to adjust. This is a big shock to him.” she said.
“I'm gonna try talking to him.” I said getting up and walking upstairs.
Sean's room was right next to mine. The door was open he had his headphones on with his music blaring loudly.
I tried tapping on the door, but he didn't hear me. I walked in and pulled his headphones off.
“Ever hear of knocking?” he asked sitting up.
“I did, but you didn't hear me.” I said.
“What do you want?” he asked.
“I don't wanna talk to you.” he said putting his headphones back on.
I pulled them back off, “We are going to talk about this.”
“Fine, we'll talk. You are fifteen and let some guy you barely know get you pregnant, and I guess I thought you were a girl who knew when to say when. Another thing you have lost your virginity at age fifteen. People are going to call you a slut.” he said.
“Did you expect me to stay a virgin forever?” I asked him getting up.
“I was hoping that you would wait a little bit longer, at least eighteen.” he said.
“You lost yours at sixteen.” I said.
“That isn't the same thing.”
“Yes it is.”
“No it isn't. I didn't get the girl pregnant.” he said.
“Whatever. I'm done talking with you.” I said walking out the door.
“You wanted to talk!” he yelled after me.
I was putting books in my locker and was about to go to lunch when Jake came up to me.
“How about going off campus with me for lunch?” he asked.
“I'm a freshmen, I can't.” I said.
“Yes you can, you can go with a senior.” he said.
“Okay, I guess.” I said and followed him out to his car.
We drove out to Mcdonalds. I ordered a big mac, with fries, and large drink. I was hungry all the time now.
“Jeez, you gonna eat the whole restraunt too?' he asked as we finished.
“I'm eating for two now.” I said.
“That's actually what I wanted to talk about.” he said.
“What is it?”
“I thought a lot about it and I think we should keep it.” he said.
“Jake we're not mature to handle this.” I said.
“Yes we are. I don't want some total stranger raising my kid.” he said.
“We can't give this baby what it needs. You're being selfish.” I said.
“I'm being selfish. You're the one who wants to give our baby to total strangers.”
“I'm doing this for our baby. I can't give it what it needs.”
“How do you know that?” he asked.
“I'm still a kid myself. We are giving this baby up for adoption and that's that.”
“Whatever. I still have nine months to convince you.” he said.
“We better get back.” I said getting up.
All day long I thought a lot about what he said. Did he really want the baby? Even if he does I can't keep it, and I'm not going to let him change my mind.
When I got home I told Jenna about what he said.
“Maybe you could keep it.” she said after thinking about it for a moment.
“No I couldn't. I'm too young.” I said angry at her for siding with him.
“Look I'm just saying maybe you should at least think about it first.”
“I can't take care of a baby. This baby needs a good life and it's not going to get that from me.”
“It's his baby too.” said Jenna.
“Yeah, but he can go any where he wants and pretend like nothings happening, but I'm pregnant no matter where I go. He's not the one who will get talked about all the time. This is my choice not his and I just thought you would be on my side.” I said.
“I am on your side.”
“No your not. Some of this is your fault.” I said.
“What!? How?” she said getting angry.
“You made me go to that stupid party.” I said.
“You didn't have to go, just like you didn't have to have sex with Jake. Instead of blaming everybody else, why don't you take some responsibility for yourself.” she said getting up and leaving.
I looked up and saw Jenna.
“What do you want?” I said.
“Could I sit here?” she asked pointing to the seat next to me.
“Sorry, I'm saving it.”
“El, it's been three years.” she said with sadness in her eyes.
“So?” I said.
“Can't you just forgive me?”
“No, what you did is unforgivable, and you never even apologized.” I said.
“I had nothing to apologize for.” she said her eyes snapping with anger.
“Then I guess we're done talking.” I said.
“I guess so.” she said and went to sit by Emma. They started whispering and looking at me.
Just in case your wondering, that wasn't the fight that ended our friendship. It goes much deeper than that.
