“I can't believe we're back.” said my best friend Paige as we pulled into the parking lot of the high school.
“Yeah and this time we're seniors.” I said parking my car in my usual spot.
“I'm going to miss this place.” said Paige as we got out.
“I say good riddence.”
“Come on, Ellie, you don't have one good memory?”
“Nope. I'm ready to make a new start.”
“We still have our senior year to get through.” said Paige as we went in.
This school is full of bad memories that I've tried to get over the past three years. It all started in freshmen year.....
I remember everything from that day even the outfit I was wearing, my read top with a black tank underneath with my favorite jean shorts. I remember the nervous feeling in my stomach as I walked into the school. I was usually nervous on the first day, but this was different. High School.
This was the big leagues. I knew most of the seniors this year, so I was hoping that they would help me fit in here.
I walked up to my locker to put my stuff in it and get the stuff I needed for 1st period which was history.
“Hey, Ellie.” said my then best friend Jenna.
“Hey, so what's your first class?” I asked.
“History. This sucks we have no classes together.” I said looking at her schedule.
“We don't even have lunch together.” she said.
“How about we have a movie night tonight?” I asked as the first bell rang.
“Sure, I'll be over by seven.” she said walking away.
I began walking to history, but I couldn't remember where it was. I saw an older boy getting books out of his locker.
“Excuse me, could you tell me where the history room is?” I asked him.
He turned and I swear he was probably the cutest guy I had ever seen. He gave me a smile that gave me butterflys in my stomach. To be honest I wasn't best at talking to really cute guys.
“I'll take you down there, it's on my way.” he said and started walking.
I followed him down the stairs and down the hallway.
“So are you a freshmen?” he asked as we walked.
“Cool.” he said awkwardly.
This was not going very well.
“Well, here we are.” he said pointing at the door. The late bell had already rung.
“Thanks.” I said and walked in.
The teacher went on and on the whole class period. All I could think about was that guy. Who was he? I needed to get to know him.
The whole day seemed to drag on, but finally it came to end. I was at my locker getting my stuff when Jenna came up to me.
“We're not watching a movie tonight.” she said.
“Okay, so what are we doing?” I asked.
“Going to a party.” she said.
“Who's party is it?” I asked.
“Aly's.” she said.
“Isn't she friends with your sister?”
“Yeah. My sister said she'll take us. Do you want to?”
“I guess, but what if we get caught?” I asked nervous.
“Relax, my sister has done this a thousand times and has never gotten caught. Just ask your mom if you can spend the night at my place.”
“What do we tell your mom?”
“That we're going to a movie.”
“Okay. I guess I'll go.”
“Great be at my place eight and we'll go.” she said.
I grabbed my stuff and headed out to the bus. I was really hoping we wouldn't get caught.
I knocked on Jenna's door at seven-fifty five. I was wearing jean shorts and a black tank top.
Jenna opened the door she was wearing her red pants, white shirt, and jean jacket.
“Hey, you look great.” she said.
“Thanks, so do you. Are you guys ready?”
“Yeah,” she turned and yelled, “Zoey let's go.”
“I'm coming. Bye mom.” she said.
“Be home by eleven you three.” yelled their mom.
We got in Zoey's car and drove down to the party. It took about five minutes to get there.
Zoey turned to us, “No drinking you two. I can't take you back home drunk.”
“We won't.” said Jenna.
We got out and went in. There were guys and girls grinding on each other everywhere. Zoey left to find her friends.
“I can't believe we're here. I bet we're only freshmens invited.” said Jenna.
“Yeah, do you think maybe we could go outside?” I asked her. I felt weird with all these kids grinding around me.
“Look there's Owen.” said Jenna pointing at a guy standing in a corner.
Owen was a sophmore who Jenna has had a crush on him forever. He lived across the street from her.
“I'm gonna go say hi.” then she ran off leaving me alone.
I decided to go to the kitchen and gets some water. I went into the kitchen grabbed a plastic cup and filled it with water from the faucet. I went out to find Jenna, but she had disappeared. I couldn't see her anyway. She probably went outside. I was about to go out and look when I heard a voice behind me.
“Having fun?” I turned and saw it was the guy who helped me today.
“Not really.” I said honestly.
“Yeah, me either.” he said.
“It's so loud.” I said as the music blared.
“Do you wanna go upstairs?” he asked.
“Sure.” I said and followed him. Normally I would never follow a guy upstairs, but he didn't seem like the bad type and I didn't want to be by myself. We went into Aly's room.
“I can't believe you came up with me.” he said sitting on the bed.
I sat down next to him and said, “Normally I wouldn't, but you seem ok.”
“I don't even know your name.” he said.
“Ellie.” I said.
“Nice to meet you Ellie, I'm Jake.”
“What grade are you in?” I asked.
“Senior and I know your a freshmen.” he said.
“That explains why I've never seen you around before.”
“Yeah.” was all I could say.
“Too bad weren't around before.” he said getting close.
“Why?” I asked getting nervous.
“Then we could've hung out, but I'll be gone at the end of year.” he leaned in to kiss me, but I slowly moved away.
“I've never kissed anyone before.” I said.
“Don't worry you'll be fine.” he said and kissed me. He laid me on the bed and moved his hand up my shirt and I didn't stop him. I probably should have though.
“Ellie, time to come back to the real world.” said Paige.
“You kind of just drifted off. Come on we better go or we're gonna be late.” she said and we started walking to class.
