Chapter 1; The Hero's birth
Do I truly understand? Am I really supposed to believe any of this? As he stood there talking to me, I ignored him. I watched as his mouth moved in all shapes and sizes, and spit went flying out of his mouth. I noticed I was being yelled at, so I laughed.
"What's so funny, Winson?!" Coach yelled. "You are supposed to run!"
"Oh okay." I replied, in a low voice. Apparently people think I'm depressed all the time, so I be quiet to drive them insane. All I want to do is go to my husband.
"Depressed child." Coach said under his breath. I stared at him, and my heart beaded a little faster. And in seconds, he fell to the floor and I started to run. "What the..?" He asked himself. He stared at me as I ran. I saw a tall boy run up to him. He has been trying to hit on me all year. His name is Derrick.
"She's just upset." He told him. "She is pretty cool, though."
"I don't think you'll be going anywhere near her pants, player." He replied, "cause there's a ring on her left hand. And that sure ain't some ring."
"Kathryn!" I turned around, and found the one calling my name. It was Fred. "It's been awhile since we had spoken to each other!"
"I guess." I replied. He hit me in the head. I looked up and glared at him.
"Do I have your attention?" He asked.
"Sure." I said, angrily. I used to talk to Fred all the time. But ever since my friend Steve graduated, we kind of separated.
"What the..?!" He grabbed my left hand. My face turned red. "When was that..?!"
"Shut up!" I yelled. "It's just a promise ring, gosh."
"Wow.." He replied. "I didn't know Damien would actually get you a ring. Thought he was all chill."
"He is." I said. I went back to my phone, to see if I had any replies.
"He never replies, does he?" Fred asked.
"Well.." I replied, "sometimes he does but he isn't ignoring me. He just has his days, ya know?"
I sat in my desk in my last class of the day. I looked at my ring, smiled, then checked my phone. I got a text that read: "Sure, ill meet you at your house at 7." Excited, I smiled and got jumpy in my desk. The teacher looked at me funny.
"Kathryn smiles?" He asked, laughing. "Damien?"
"Yeah." I replied. "It's been about a week."
"Record?" He asked.
"Sure." I replied. The teacher got up to the front, and was saying how many people passed the recent test. He said I was the only one who failed.
"Your history test score.." He began. "What's going on?"
"Can you please not say this infront of the whole class, sir?" I asked.
"If you were passing, I wouldn't have to." He pointed to Derrick. "You!" He exclaimed, "Help her."
"Please no!" I begged, and Derrick and I stood up at the same time. Derrick's face was pale white, and sweat fell off of the teacher's face, unaware of what to do or say next.
"It's okay." Derrick said, sitting down slowly. I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath. And then, I said it.
"Fine. But don't you dare hit on me." And the class was silent.
Derrick probably didn't care what I had said, so I had back up. "No, I'm Kathryn's partner." Sammy said. Sammy and I are the spirit captains in marching band. She's the assistant though. "So," she began.
"Here we go." I said aloud. She punched my arm. "Ow!"
"Damien? Sex?" I kicked her. "Ow!"
"Shut up!" I yelled whispered. If that's even a thing but I don't care. But anyways, I didn't tell anyone that stuff. "Stay out of my love life."
"Why?" She asked. "Secret stuff?"
"No," I replied, "personal. Besides, if it was something bad maybe I'd talk to you."
"Fine then." She replied.
"Sing." The teacher said to me. I got up, and started to freak out. "Kathryn, sing." My hands started to get sweaty, my head began to feel light, and I could barely walk.
"Wh-what?" I wobbled to the front of the class. I looked around, and everyone was cheering. Apparently I'm really good.
"Come on!" Everyone said. Sammy joined in. Derrick was worried. So I sang:
"Today was my last-" and I collapsed.
I woke up, and I saw Damien. I smiled, and filled up with happiness quickly. I leaped up and hugged him. But Damien pushed me softly back into bed. "I missed you so much." I said.
"It wasn't that long." He replied. "You need to rest." He held my hand.
"I'm fine." I replied. "Let's go. Take me away."
"I'm going to stay with you here for a day, then we are both going to your house and ill take care of you." I blushed.
"Y-you will?" I asked.
"Of course." He replied. "Besides, not like I had a choice."
"Je, thanks." I replied, laughing. We smiled at each other. He rubbed my hand.
"I love you." He said.
"10." I replied. I giggled. "I love you too." He kissed me, and got up.
"I'll be back, just need food." And he left. I sank down into the hospital bed, and was filled with relaxation.
"Where's my phone?" I said aloud.
Two weeks had passed. And after four days, I fell again. I thought it was dehydration, but that wasn't it. "I have no clue how its possible," the doctor said, "but your.."
"I'm what?" I asked. I started to get stressed.
"Totally fine." He looked at his test results again. "I checked for everything and nothing unusual came up." Damien came into the room.
"Are you okay?"
We walked outside, and we walked to his car. I was skipping around. "I'll be fine!" I said, looking at his worried face. And then, everything seemed silent. I saw Damien sprint towards me. I suddenly heard nothing, and everything was spinning. I felt a huge pain in my sides like I got slammed by a bus. I flew in the air, and when I hit the ground, everything was black.
"Weird, right?" I asked. Her face was pale.
"Dude.." She repeated. "You were a girl?"
"I guess." I replied. "It was strange."
"How does this have anything to do with our story?" My friend asked.
"Well," I replied, "we could write about what death is like."
"I don't wanna do that." Alex said. She turned off the lamp, and left the table.
"Seriously?" I yelled, getting up. She lifted her hands up, and walked off. I sat back down, giving up.
I looked at my notebook, and decided to throw away my story. I walked away, but noticed someone took it out of the trash and read it. It was a kid who was maybe about 12, chubby, and had black glasses. He called out to me, "What does happen?" He asked. I turned around, and walked back.
"Do you wish to know?" I asked. He nodded. I smiled, and offered him a seat. "Then you will be told." And I began the story.
"Do you know the hero?" I asked. "The king?"
"I beg your pardon?" The little boy asked. I smiled.
"There was once a king, who died and came back and was created to save the world."
"Did he succeed?" The boy asked. I shook my head.
"Due to love, he became normal. God did not want this, so he made him fall in love with an angel. By doing so, he'd want to save her."
"Did he?" The boy asked.
"In a way." I replied. "You see, the king became a demon himself, like the profit says. However, he wanted to be with the angel, so he became half angel half demon."
"How does that make him fail?"
"It's simple," I replied, "it was already planned and everything. But he wanted to do things his way."
"I am a king!" He yelled. He drew his demon sword, and pointed it at Zorock.
"Hilarious." He replied.
"You ruined my future!" He yelled. His rage builded through his veins, and he created flames around his blade.
"No," he replied, "you did, lover boy." The king looked at his wife, and cried. He knew Zorock wasn't wrong. "Don't blame me."
The king fell to his knees, and couldn't resist the guilt. Zorock killed him quickly. "It was to relieve himself of pain" he said. His wife attacked him with angel's light, but failed. "You have no idea who your dealing with!" He struck her with a bolt of fire, and she was dead.
Zorock took the king's child, and laughed. "Lets spice things up a bit. This same thing will happen everytime! I win!" And he made the child stronger.
"What about the hero?" The boy asked.
"In today's time period?" I asked.
"Well, right now we are probably on the 5th generation. But this time the hero didn't fail." I replied.
"How so?" The boy asked.
"He made it so not only it wasn't real, but he became normal so that everyone forgot."
"That was possible?"
"Yes." I replied. The boy laid back. "What about life after death?"
"Simple question." I replied.
