7. Who am I?!

Ha ha! I was going to make this a cliffhanger and not update for a while, but I'm way too excited for this chapter to do that. This is where the good stuff starts to happen! Enjoy, but don't forget to like and favorite if you haven't already!

Kyra's POV

I'm a wolf! I wonder what I look like! Do I look ok? Do I have an extra eye?! Oh no, that would be bad!  These were the thoughts that were going through my head when I stood up. I honestly did want to see myself. I looked down at my paws and saw they were white, and surprisingly big. I saw Mason approaching and greeted him. Is my fur completely white?  I wondered, distracted again. I was surprised to hear a response.

Yes, you look exactly as I do. Even your eyes look like mine. I'm surprised you look so much like me though. I thought you would look more like your mother.

I sniffed the air, looking for the source of the voice. Mason had told me werewolves could only communicate on an emotional level; they couldn't hear actual words. They could only feel what the others are feeling.

I noticed a wolf looking at me from the tree line. I growled at him and the voice returned.

You finally found me. You learn fast. I can't wait for you to start training.

Who are you?! How are you in my head?!

I am one of the few wolves on the planet that can read thoughts, as are you. It comes from our ancestors. We are decedents of The Great Wolf, Nora. Her blood runs in our veins, Kyra.

Who are you?! What is your name?!

I am Ian Mitchell Stone. I am your father, Kyra.

No your not! My dad's name is Brayden Hughes and my mom's name is Rachel Hughes!

No! They stole you from me and your mother! They stole you! Your mine! I have followed you for years trying to get you back, but every time I found your trail you were gone again! I knew your fifteenth birthday would be coming up soon; I had to tell you what would happen, but when I would approach you I would remember, and then I would get so angry and shift into a monster. Then I was captured by this pack. I knew you would be safe, but I've come to close to leave now.

I don't believe you! Get away from me!

Oh yeah? I'll show you. Welcome to my personal memories, Kyra.

I felt my knees buckle and I fell to the ground. I heard a thud and saw that Ian had fallen too. I tried to stop my eyes from closing, but he was to strong. He overpowered me, and I was pulled into a maze of memories.

Mason's POV

My dad opened the door. I looked at him, hoping to hear good news.

"No change. They're still unconscious.", he said.

I paced back and forth in the living room. It was driving me crazy, not knowing if she was ok. Luckily Rose had managed to get then in their human forms, so we could get them inside.

"Mason, stop worrying. She'll be ok.", Mom said as she washed the dishes.

I wanted to believe her, but I had this strange feeling about that wolf. Why did Kyra have his eyes? They looked like twins or something. I don't understand! Was he her brother?

When I was done arguing with myself, I went into the room Kyra was in and sat down beside the bed. I held her hand and said,

"Wake up, Kyra. Please just wake up."

Then she screamed. She sat straight up and screamed the most horrible scream I've ever heard. It was enough to make me put my hands over my ears. Rose came storming in and pushed me outside. I ran outside and headed for my waterfall. Kyra, Garth, and I were the only ones who knew where it was, so I could be alone until either Garth was sent to look for me or Kyra woke up and came to find me.

I let my wolf have my mind. He guided me to where I wanted to go. I climbed to the top of the waterfall and howled:

Let me help you, Love.

I would gladly steal an Angel's wings

to help you escape

from the wolf who looks the same as you.

I would scale the highest mountain,

or swim across the sea,

to watch you fly away, finally free.

Even if it meant you flew away from me.

"Nice song bro.", I heard Garth say. I changed into my human form and he threw me a pair of shorts.

"Thanks for the shorts."

"No problem."

"What are you doing here?", I asked.

"Your hurting. I could feel it from miles away. What's wrong?"

I hesitated. I didn't want to tell him, but I knew he wouldn't go away until I did.

"Do you remember when I shut my self away from everyone a few months ago?"

"Yeah, you refused to acknowledge anyone."

"Well...you know how they say you can feel when your mate's near or...when they die?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"I felt my mate die. I could feel her pain. She was murdered. Murdered." We sat in silence for a few minutes.

"So...Kyra's not your true mate?"

"No. That's why it's so hard! I want to be with her, and when I thought she was human it wouldn't have mattered if she wasn't my mate, but now she's a wolf and she'll know her true mate! What happens then? Does she run off into the sunset and forget me forever? Are we still friends?...I just don't want to lose her."

"You know I felt that way about Suzie. When I found out she wasn't my mate, I just wanted to die. I loved her and I didn't want to hurt her. I also didn't want to live without her. The day I ended that relationship was the worst day of my life. I just broke up with her one day. She probably thought she did something. I wish I'd explained myself; at least come up with some excuse why. Now every time I look at her all I see in her eyes is 'Why? What did I do to deserve this?'"

"I'm sorry, Garth."

"That's all water under the bridge. I guess the question you have to ask yourself is...do you love her enough to let her go? To let her be happy?"

Kyra's POV

I felt my self falling. I just kept falling until...Ooof! I landed on a couch. I looked around. I had landed in a small living room. It had wood paneled walls and green carpet on the floor. The couch was a deep red plaid color. The only other items in the room were a coffee table and a small TV. I finished looking around the room and jumped when I noticed Ian sitting beside me.

"Why are we here?", I asked him.

"This was our living room. We didn't have much, but we had each other and that was enough for me."

"This is your proof?"

"No, this is." He suddenly had a controller in his hand. He turned on the TV.

"This is the night you were born. You came faster than we expected, so we didn't make it to the hospital. You were born at home.", he looked at me and smiled, "You were the most beautiful baby I'd ever seen, and you were mine."

A flash of images swam across the screen. Ian seemed to be somewhere else when he spoke again.

"Your mother died a few months after you were born."

"How did she die?"

"She had gone back to her family to visit them. They were attacked by a rival pack. None of them survived."

"So, if your telling the truth, how was I 'stolen'?"

He looked at the controller and pressed a button. The images flashed and then stopped.

"I'd left you with my sister, while I went to work. Her stupid boyfriend came over for a drink and they both drank until they passed out. When they woke up they decided to go get something to eat. They put you in your car seat and took you with them. They were both arrested for drunk driving and taken to jail. I came and picked you up, but before I could leave they asked for my proof of citizenship."

"You're not from America?", I interrupted.

"No. Your mother and I left from our Canadian pack when we found out about you."

"Oh."

"I knew I couldn't take you back to Canada with me, because our old pack would find us. It gets a little confusing after that. Basically, they put you in a foster system while I went back to Canada to clean up our trail and told me they would keep you there until you were safe again. It made sure that if something happened to me you would still have a life. I didn't legally give up my parental rights so you couldn't be adopted unless I died. Except you were. When I came back I was furious. I've been looking for you ever since then."

"Now we're here...", I said.

"Do you believe me?", he asked.

I'd seen the evidence right in front of me. Although, I wanted to deny it I couldn't.

I looked at Ian. He was watching me, waiting for an answer. His eyes looked so sad, like he expected me to say no. I needed to think.

"Ian, I need some time to think. Can I go home?"

"Of course. I'll understand if you don't believe me. I never really expected to get this far after chasing you down for fifteen years. Just...take these with you."

He handed me a piece of paper rolled up and held closed with a necklace. I looked at the stone attached to the end of the rope. It was a light brown polished stone with a white wolf engraved into the front of it. It was beautiful.

"It's amazing!"

"It's yours now. Unroll the paper."

I unraveled the paper and read it. It was my birth certificate. The names on it were: Ian Mitchell Stone and Emily Harper Stone.

"Compare it to the one your parents have."

"Ok." Then the world was black.

I woke up and looked around. I'd been put in a room. I heard a female voice shriek, "He's awake! Check on the girl!" The door opened and Evan came in. He looked angry.

"Are you hurt?", he asked.

"No, but I need to get home, right now."

"Alright. Lets go."

When I walked into the living room I saw Ian sitting on the couch. I nodded at him and headed for the door.

"Wait. Your forgetting something.", he said. He handed me the paper and necklace.

"Thanks." I put the necklace on and put the paper in my pocket.

Evan drove me home in his truck.

"Thanks, Evan.", I said as jumped out onto the pavement.

"Anytime, kiddo", he said and drove off.

I unlocked the door and walked upstairs to my parents room. I opened the closet and took out the briefcase my mom keeps important documents in. I opened it and took out my birth certificate. I took out the one Ian gave me and put it beside the other. They matched. I sat down on the bed and took a deep breath. I started tearing up and I just let them fall. When I finished crying I thought Who am I?.
