Thump. Thump. Thu-thump. I could hear the sound of Kyra's heartbeat. It sounded through the forest like birdsong. She was coming closer. Closer to her inevitable fate. I know the power that resides in her heart is strong, but I have spent years becoming stronger. Now I have succeed.
Today she will die by my hand. Of that much, I am certain. My loyal army is to let her pass the walls of stone, to the inside of the mountain I currently occupy. There she will find her way to me and I will be able to capture her power and use it alongside my own. I will be unstoppable!
I stumbled twice on the way to the clearing where we will be fighting. Kyra asked if I was alright and I told her I was just clumsy.
We arrived in the clearing and Evan ordered for us to halt. In front of us stood around 200 wolves all clad in armor. We had about 120 wolves. Tod's army was double the size of ours and well protected with armor that appeared to be based off of the same material from the War of Bone, the worst ever war between wolves. It ended in more than two-thirds of the entire werewolf population.
I walked up to Evan.
If we can get the armor off of the wolves we manage to kill we might have a chance., I told him. He nodded. I spread the message to everyone else and the battle began.
A huge gray wolf ran straight for me. I dived under him and he hit the ground hard. I slammed my paw down on his neck and he was dead. I put his armor on and looked around. Their front wave seemed to be the weakest wolves first, so most of them were taken down pretty quickly. I saw Kyra running and ran after her.
Three wolves came out of nowhere and pinned me to the ground. I felt teeth sink into my front leg. I started biting furiously at the air an I managed to connect with something. One down, two to go.
I went limp and one of them released my leg. There were still paws on my chest pinning me down but I grabbed hold of that wolves nose and bit down hard. He yelped and I raked my claws across his eyes, blinding him. The wolf that had released my leg charged at me. I jumped and landed on his back and let my weight crush the small wolf. I took the fur at the back of his neck in my teeth and shook my head back and forth before banging his head on the ground, making him unconscious.
Nikki was beside me then pushing me with her muzzle, telling me to run. Wolves were surrounding us closing off any way to escape. I felt weak. I don't know how much longer I could handle. I had been running on adrenaline until now.
Then some of our wolves were there fighting them off. Nikki pushed me past everyone into the mountain. We followed Kyra's scent until we ran into a gigantic dark brown wolf. Nikki lunged at him and I grabbed his tail and spun him around in circles. I heard a yelp and looked up.
He had flung Nikki into the wall! Blood was pooling around her. I tried to run to her, but he grabbed my front leg and knocked me off balance. He was on top of me putting pressure on my lungs so I couldn't breathe.
My vision was going black and I was almost going to give up until Kyra was in my head.
Dad! Dad help me! P-please!
I had to get to her! I saw my chance! I took my back paws and started kicking his stomach, using my claws to make him back off. He released me so I hit him in the face again and again until he couldn't move and I killed him.
Nikki sat up and looked at me. I helped her up and led her to where Kyra was. Kyra screamed and Nikki pushed me telling me to go.
Tod's monster of a wolf had her backed into a corner. I pushed a table over to get his attention. It worked and he headed for me. He didn't notice Mason behind him.
Mason jumped and I did too. Tod was pushed to the floor and we held him down. Kyra stepped forward and a knife materialized in her hand, poised to strike.
