Wolf Stone

When Kyra moves to Baneberry, Tennessee, she expects to forget everything about her old life, but when she meets Mason everything turns upside down as she's pulled into an entirely new world. She finds herself wishing for everything to go back to normal, but little does she know nothing will ever be normal again.

3. I don't belive it...

I didn't see Mason for the rest of the day. I think I heard his name called for roll call in sixth and seventh period. Yay, I have three classes with a weirdo, I thought to myself.

When I got home I put a smile on my face. I knew my parents would want to know how school went. I managed to leave all the bad parts of my day out. When they were satisfied I went up to my room and sat down in my bean bag chair. This place was...different. I need a distraction I said to myself. I pulled out my Xbox controller and started playing.

About an hour later I heard something hit my window. Probably just acorns or something, I thought and started playing again. A few seconds later I heard it again. Then again. What is that? I got up and walked over to the window.

"What are you doing?! Are you crazy?!", I yelled. It was Mason throwing rocks at my window.

"I-I thought you might want someone to show you around. Since your new and all."

"So you want me to sneak out of my house to go walk around with you, a complete stranger, for who knows how long?"

"Ok." Maybe I would get some answers. I started to climb out the window and slipped.

"Oof!" Oh no, I landed on Mason!

"I'm so sorry! I fell and-" I stopped. Why was he was laughing?

"You should have seen your face! Ha ha ha!"

"Are you laughing at me?!" I 'playfully' punched him in the arm.

It turns out there wasn't much to this town. It was mostly shops and the other basic stuff. Mason was really cool though. Most of his family lived in a few large house out in the woods. They had lived there for a really long time.

We were walking on the side of the road back to my house when Mason stopped. He looked into the trees next to us. He made a noise that sounded like an animal growling. He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer.

"Don't let go.", he whispered.

"Trust me.", he said and I did.

He led me through the woods; when we came to a river, he led me upstream to a fallen log.

"We need to cross it."

"You have to be kidding me.", I said.

"Just hold onto my hand."

When we had crossed the log. Mason turned around and pulled me behind him.

"Be quiet and stay behind me.", he said.

Before I could argue I heard a branch snap across the river. A large creature stepped out of the shadows. It looked like...a man and a wolf. It had bright red eyes and it stood almost seven feet tall. It looked like one of the werewolves off of a horror movie, but more real. You couldn't see any zippers or any proof of animation. It walked on its knuckles, like an ape. I was terrified. I could deny ever seeing it; blame it on Mason pulling a prank. Except I knew that it wasn't. One thing that terrified me even more was that real wolves were surrounding us. I turned to Mason for answers, but I wished I hadn't, because right then Mason turned into one of those wolves.
