Beep! Beep! Beep! I smacked the alarm and sat up in the bed.
"Good morning." said Mason. Wait, Mason? What is he doing here?!
I looked at him. He was wearing the same clothes that he had last night on our walk...last night. It all came rushing back to me. I pulled the covers over my head turned my face into the pillow and screamed. Mason put his hand over my mouth and whispered in my ear.
"Shh. It's ok. Your safe. I won't let anything hurt you."
He pulled me onto his lap and I cried into his shoulder for what felt like forever. After Mason had turned into a wolf I had started running towards the trees. I ran until I fell over a tree stump. I had stayed there until Mason had come looking for me. He carried me home and I listened to his explanation.
He was a werewolf. He was the son of an alpha wolf, so when his dad couldn't lead their pack anymore Mason would take over. Garth was a werewolf too. He was Mason's beta wolf. He had been the black wolf that stood beside Mason and I. When I had asked why the werewolf across the river looked like a monster, he said that when you transform, your wolf takes form by your emotions. That wolf had been very angry, so he turned into the monster we saw. By the time he was finished it was after midnight. He had tried to leave, but I grabbed his shirt collar and told him he was staying. He didn't argue. I had let him sleep on the couch in the corner of the room. Now he was probably wishing he had left.
When I finally stopped crying, I looked up at Mason. He was watching me like I was going to burst into tears again. I promised myself I wasn't going to cry anymore today; at least not in front of him.
"I'm not going to school today.", he said.
"I haven't even thought about school."
"We can skip together. If you want?", he smiled at me. I was slowly starting to love that smile.
"It's a date.", I said and I smiled back at him.
"Can I use your shower?"
"Yeah. If you want I'll wash your clothes too."
"Ok just leave them on bed." I got up and walked out of the room. When I heard the bathroom door close I walked back in. I picked up his clothes and grabbed some clothes for me. I chose a simple black t-shirt and a pair of jeans. I decided not to wear my wolf hoodie, so I wore my white Mickey Mouse jacket. After, I was dressed I put his clothes in the washer and set it to quick wash. When they were finished I put them in the dryer. Mason came down stairs with a towel wrapped around his waist.
"Are they almost done?", he asked. I pulled my gaze away from his amazing upper body and looked at the dryer.
"Yeah." I walked past him to the couch. I handed him my dad's robe.
"Put this on." I turned away and waited for him to finish.
"Ok you can look now.", Mason said. I turned towards him. He smiled and walked over to the couch and sat down. He patted the seat next to him. I walked over and sat down.
"Where are your parents?", he asked.
"They aren't around much. I pretty much have the house to myself through the week. They sleep here, then they leave."
"Oh. Well maybe I should stay over more so your not so lonely."
"That would be great." I looked at him. He was closer than I thought. I looked at his eyes. They were the most amazing brown. I moved closer to him and he leaned towards me. BEEP! BEEP! That stupid dryer!
I got up and got the clothes out. I threw them at him and turned around. A few minutes later I felt Mason's arms go around my waist. He pulled my hair away from my ear and kissed the spot where his fingers brushed against my neck.
"Where do you want to go?", he whispered in my ear.
"I don't care."
"I know a really pretty spot where no one will find us."
Mason took me to a spot on his pack's territory. It had a small waterfall and it was far away from town. The water was ice cold when I stepped in. He jumped in the water and grabbed my ankle, pulling me down with him. We swam around in the water for most of the day. We only stopped to eat a picnic Mason had put together before we left. It was the best date I've ever been on.
Later on that day I saw a big, black wolf come out of the trees. Garth walked up to Mason and snorted right in his face and then ran away from him. I laughed and Mason looked at me. He turned into his large, sand colored wolf and chased after him. I sat down on the edge of the water and watched them play. Then they both started crawling towards me on their bellies.
"What are you two doing?", I asked.
Garth walked up to the water and started drinking. Mason walked over to me and put his head in my lap. When I looked at Garth to make sure he wasn't up to anything, Mason put his nose under my leg and pushed me into the water. I laughed and grabbed him around the neck. He started to pull me out, but I pulled as hard as I could and he fell in too. He swam underneath me and I sat on his back and watched as Garth climbed up the rock pile next to the waterfall and jumped into the water. He made the biggest splash I've ever seen. Mason and Garth both climbed out of the water and ran into the trees. They came out a few minutes later as humans.
"Time to go.", said Mason.
"Aww, I don't want to go.", said Garth.
"Me either.", I agreed.
"Well you have to." Mason walked over and picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.
"Hey! I can walk!", I said to him.
"You're to slow."
"I want to be carried too!", yelled Garth. He started running at us and I screamed. He ran into us and all of us fell to the ground in a tangle of limbs. I had landed on top of Mason.
"I'm starting to get used to this.", he said. I laughed and rolled off him. He picked me up again and then he and Garth raced to their house.
They both lived together in a small cabin. It wasn't very far from the pack's main house. It had two bedrooms and a bathroom. The living area and kitchen were made up of one large room. They told me they didn't use it much so they only had a few clothes in the dressers and rotten food in the fridge. Good thing I wasn't hungry.
Mason let me borrow one of his shirts and a pair of shorts. Neither of them fit me. They were way too big, but it was the best they could do. The shirt smelled like him, so I didn't complain. While Garth was getting their truck from the main house Mason and I sat on the couch and talked.
"I'm coming over to your house again later tonight. If you don't care?", he asked me.
"Of course you can. Your welcome at my house anytime."
"The same goes for you.", he said.
"Yeah?", I asked.
He leaned towards me and pressed his lips to mine. Right then I knew I was falling for Mason, the soon-to-be alpha of a werewolf pack. I'm officially insane.
