Wolf Stone

When Kyra moves to Baneberry, Tennessee, she expects to forget everything about her old life, but when she meets Mason everything turns upside down as she's pulled into an entirely new world. She finds herself wishing for everything to go back to normal, but little does she know nothing will ever be normal again.

12. Daddy, No!

Kyra's POV

A few months have passed since I met Luke. He seemed like a good guy at first, but the more time I spent in his presence the worse he became. He was abusive. I have bruises running down both arms. I came home last night with a black eye and a busted lip. I'd pissed him off. He always took his anger out on me, even if I did nothing to him. I don't know what to do!

I was a the pack house when these thoughts were running through my brain, like annoying little bees. Buzz! Buzz! Mason walked past me then. He stopped and looked at my black eye. I didn't want to tell him anything so I got up and headed to Triple Falls. I started calling it that since only Garth, Mason, and I knew about it.

I didn't notice Mason was following me until I was at the top of the Falls. I sat on the edge and felt him sit down next to me. I said nothing to him. I tried to focus on the water that was spraying my feet as it hit the rocks. I was doing a good job until he said,

"I always knew you were annoying. Now your finally getting what you deserve."

"It's not my fault. When he gets angry he takes it out on me. He's always so angry.", I started shaking. I could feel how angry he was right now, even though we're miles away.

Mason looked at me and put his hand on my shoulder.

"Good luck.", he said. Then he left.

I was alone. I've lost everyone. Ian was gone on a trip with some other wolves from Evan's pack. He wouldn't be back for a few days. Mason hated me now, and I very rarely see Suzie anymore. Garth and I had become good friends, but Mason kept him busy so he couldn't hang out with me. I started crying. I stayed like that all night, shielding my emotions from everyone, just like I'd taught myself when this all started.

When dawn came I went home. I opened the door to my bedroom, then locked it behind me. I curled up on the bed and hid from the world, safe underneath my quilt. I stayed like that until Ian came home a few days later. I heard him unlock the front door and yell,

"Kiddo, I'm home!"

I stayed like I was until he came to my door. He tried to open it, but it was still locked. He called my name a few times. I heard panic seep into his voice, and he kicked the door open. I was sitting up, being very careful to hide my still visible black eye. He sat down beside me. Then I looked directly at him.

His expression flickered through a dozen different emotions before settling on angry. Ian had never looked so scary in all the time I've known him. When he finally spoke it was in a deadly whisper.

"Who did that?", he asked through clenched teeth.

I was scared to tell him. Luke was supposed to be coming over for dinner tomorrow night. I knew Ian didn't like Luke that much anyway. He said it again, louder this time.

"Who did that, Kyra?"

"L-Luke.", I stuttered.

Before I could even take another breath Ian had picked up a glass and thrown it against a wall. It shattered and I started sobbing. Ian's attention immedietly shifted to me. He picked me up and took me into the living room and sat me on the couch. He brought me a sandwich from the kitchen, but I told him I wasn't hungry.

I told Ian everything that Luke had done. I was crying on his shoulder saying,

"Why does he do that? I've never done anything to him. I love him."

Ian just held me and let me cry it out. We both fell asleep like that. Our first big father, daughter bonding moment was about Luke. My abusive mate. I'm glad Ian's back. I don't feel so alone now.

I woke up the next morning in my bed. Ian was in the kitchen making pancakes. I sat down in my spot at the table, and poured a glass of orange juice. We ate in silence. Then Ian said,

"Is Luke coming over tonight?"

"Yes." I answered.

"Good. I need to speak with him."

I started to object, but he got up and started washing dishes.

It was 6 o'clock. Luke would be here any minute. Ian was sitting on the sofa like a statue. We'd barely talked through today. I was starting to worry about what was going through his head when Luke knocked on the door. I let him in and went to set the table.

When I came back Luke was in the bathroom, and Ian was still on the couch.   I said,

"It's ready."

"Ok.", Ian said. He got up and went to the table. Luke came in a few seconds later and sat down as well. The only sound was forks hitting plates until Luke spit back out his chicken onto his plate.

"You stupid bitch! I almost broke my tooth on that bone! Why can't you do anything right?!", he screamed.

I was busy watching Ian clutch at the table to notice him. I heard the wood crack as his knuckles turned white. Then I felt Luke's fist connect with my jaw. Ian jumped up and grabbed Luke by the back of the neck. He slammed his head into the counter and then he put his head inside the fridge. Ian kept shutting the door on Luke until a sickening Snap! echoed through the apartment. I sat down on the floor and tried to breathe. I felt the life drain out of Luke's body. Ian started cleaning up the blood in the kitchen. I didn't know if the neighbors were home so I went and jiggled there doorknobs and found them locked. Ian was slightly panicking. I was way beyond panicked. We managed to get Luke's body out to the truck without any trouble. We drove all night and dumped Luke in a cave. Ian knew how to force a change in a werewolf. We weren't sure if it would work, but it did.

We got home and stayed up for the rest of the night. It was almost dawn when some huge men knocked on the door. They asked if I had talked to Luke today. I told them we had diner together and then he left. They asked a few more questions and left. We might have gotten away with it.

A few weeks later I was starting to relax a little. That was until Ian said he was going to turn himself in. I tried to talk him out of it, but he refused to listen. I was starting to worry. He was walking out the door when I yelled,

"Daddy! Daddy don't do it! Please!"

He hugged me and kissed the top of my head, but he kept walking.

"Daddy, no. Please.", I whispered, giving up.

Bet you didn't see that coming! Ha! Now, back to the important stuff. If you want to be included in Evan's pack then leave your name and a short description of you and your werewolf forms in the comments. Kyra will be meeting the rest of the pack within the next few chapters, so be patient. Let me know soon!
